Are there any reliable free price alert extensions for Chrome that actually work and wont give my computer a virus? I am trying to find a gift for my nephews 16th birthday next month and I have to be really careful with my money because I only have a budget of about $400 for his whole computer build. I live in rural Ohio so I cant just drive to a big store like Micro Center or whatever they are called so I have to buy everything online and the prices are driving me crazy. One minute the part I want is $150 and the next it is $220 and I feel like I am playing a losing game trying to catch the low price.

I keep hearing people talk about extensions but I honestly have no idea what those even are or how to install them safely. Is it just a button you click? I am so worried about downloading something that is going to spy on me or steal my credit card info when I buy the parts. I saw some things like CamelCamelCamel or Keepa or something like that but they look really complicated with all those graphs and charts and I just want something simple that tells me 'hey the price is low now go buy it' without me having to check every hour.

Sorry if this is a really dumb thing to ask but I am just so confused and a little bit anxious about the whole thing because I dont want to let my nephew down on his big day. Are there any of these that are actually free and safe for someone who doesnt know much about computers? I dont want to slow down my laptop either because it is already kind of old. I just need a little bell or something to pop up when it goes back down. If anyone has a suggestion for something very easy to use that would be great...

I've been staring at this one specific 34-inch ultrawide monitor for like three weeks now and the price keeps bouncing around like crazy. One day it's $450 then it's $520 then back down to $480 and I'm honestly just tired of checking the tab every morning before I start work. I'm trying to get my whole home office setup together before my new contract starts in October and I'm on a pretty strict budget of $1200 for the whole thing—monitor, chair, keyboard, the works. Being in Chicago everything is already expensive enough so I really need to save where I can.

I did some digging and found CamelCamelCamel and Keepa but I'm kinda torn. Keepa looks like it has a ton of info but those graphs are honestly super overwhelming and I heard they started charging for some of the basic price drop alerts which is annoying. Camel is cool too but it seems like it only tracks Amazon prices and I'm looking at stuff on B&H and Newegg too because sometimes they have open-box deals that are way better than what Jeff Bezos is offering. Then there's Honey which everyone talks about but every time I use it it just feels like it's trying to sell me something or it's just hunting for coupons that don't even work half the time. I really just want something that sits in the corner of my browser and tells me "hey this is the lowest price this item has been in 6 months" without me having to do a bunch of manual work or giving up every piece of my private browsing data to some massive corporation.

Is there anything out there that handles multiple retailers well and is actually free? I don't mind if it's got a few ads or whatever but I really need something reliable for the next couple months while I finish buying all this gear for the apartment. What are you guys using that actually works for stuff outside of just Amazon?

I dont really know anything about phones or accessories so sorry if this is a really dumb question but I need help fast. I have a trip to the Grand Canyon coming up next week and I know Im gonna drop it or get sand on it or something. I went to look on Amazon and there are like a million choices and I have no idea what the difference is between the glass ones and the film ones? Some say something about UV light and that sounds really complicated and scary lol. I just want something that wont make the fingerprint thing stop working because I use that for everything.

My constraints are basically:

Must be easy to put on (I have shaky hands)

Under $40 if possible

Needs to arrive by Thursday

Wont mess up the touch screen or colors

Does anyone have a specific brand they use? I saw Spigen and Whitestone but the Whitestone one looks like a science experiment and I dont want to ruin my phone with glue or something weird. I just need it to stay safe while I am hiking and taking pictures...

I've been trying to buy this specific Ninja air fryer thing for my sister's birthday next month and I swear the price changes like every single time I refresh the page. One day it's $120 then the next it's $150 and then it says sale but it's still $130? I feel like I'm being tricked lol. I heard someone mention that there are like... little apps or things you can add to your computer that tell you if a price is actually good or if it's just a fake sale but I have literally no clue how that works or what they are called.

Sorry if this is a really basic question but I'm not super techy and I've never used a browser extension before. Is it like a separate program? Do I have to pay for them? I'm kind of scared of downloading stuff that might have viruses or steal my credit card info since I do all my shopping on that computer. I just want something simple that shows a graph or something of what the price used to be so I don't get ripped off.

Here is basically what I'm looking for:

has to be free because I'm already on a tight budget for this gift (trying to stay under $150 total)

works on google chrome because that's what I use mostly

easy to read because big data stuff confuses me sometimes

maybe something that sends an email when the price drops?

I live in Chicago so it needs to work for the US version of Amazon. I've got about three weeks before the party so I'm hoping I can catch a real drop before then. If anyone has a favorite or one that is super easy for a beginner to set up that would be awesome. I tried looking at the web store and there were so many options I just got overwhelmed and closed the tab. Is there one that everyone uses that is actually safe?

I just dropped way too much money on this 16 Pro Max and honestly the bezels are so tiny this year that Im actually worried. Ive been using iPhones since the 3G days and usually I just slap a Spigen Tough Armor on and call it a day but Ive been reading some horror stories about the new screen curvature messing with traditional tempered glass. Apparently the edges are lifting or causing dead zones with the haptic feedback and I really cant deal with that right now. Im heading out to a job site in rural Maine next Tuesday and I need this thing tank-proof before I leave.

Ive looked at the Dbrand Grip and maybe the Nomad Rugged but I havent seen anyone confirm if they play nice with the ultra-thin screen protectors everyone is selling. Budget is about 100 bucks total for both the case and the glass. Is anyone actually using a screen protector right now that doesnt have that weird rainbow effect on the edges or interfere with the swipe-to-back gesture because of the thin frame? My old 14 Pro Max setup felt way more solid than this. What are you guys using that actually fits the new dimensions perfectly?

What cables are you guys using to get the actual max charging speeds on the new iPhone 17 Pro? I'm leaving for a big trip to Tokyo in like three days and I just realized my old cables are totally frayed and slow as hell. I spent a couple hours looking online and everything is just confusing now. I read on a tech blog that the 17 Pro series might be pulling way more power than the older models like maybe 45W or even higher but then I see people on Reddit saying most generic 100W USB-C cables still throttle down because of some handshake issue with Apple's hardware. I saw some Anker Bio-Nylon ones that look cool but are they actually better than the official Apple ones for speed? I really dont want to spend $30 on one cable from the Apple store if a $15 one works the same but I also dont want to be sitting in a cafe in Japan for two hours waiting for my phone to hit 50 percent. My budget is around 40 bucks for two cables if possible. Does it have to be MFi certified still or did they ditch that? I just need something that definitely works and wont arrive after I already left for the airport...

I have been using browser extensions to snag deals for years now, usually just stuck with Keepa for my Amazon stuff but lately it feels like every useful feature is getting locked behind a monthly subscription. Im currently trying to track prices for an LG C3 OLED for my new home office setup here in Chicago because I really need to pull the trigger by Friday before this supposed flash sale ends, but I cant tell if the current price is actually a deal or if they just hiked it up last week to make the discount look better.

I tried a couple other random ones I found on the Chrome store this morning but they were total bloatware, one of them kept messing with my browser cookies and literally crashed my tabs twice while I was trying to checkout. I need something lightweight that works on more than just Amazon—specifically Best Buy and Newegg since I am cross-shopping for this monitor. Does anyone know a reliable free price tracker extension for Chrome that still gives you a decent price history graph without hidden paywalls or selling your data to every advertiser on the planet?
