I just treated myself to the new iPhone 16 Pro, and while the device is incredible, I have realized my old charging setup is definitely showing its age. I am moving up from a much older model, so I want to make sure I am getting the most out of the updated MagSafe speeds that the 16 series supports.

I am specifically looking for a mix of a solid desk charger and a reliable portable power bank for when I am out and about. I have noticed the camera bump on the 16 Pro is quite substantial this year, so I am a bit worried about some power banks not sitting flush against the back of the phone. I really want to avoid any thermal issues or sluggish charging speeds, so I am looking for options that are Qi2 certified or fully MagSafe compatible to hopefully hit those faster 25W charging rates when plugged in.

I have been browsing brands like Anker, ESR, and Belkin, but the sheer number of options is a bit overwhelming. I am particularly interested in:

  • Power banks that do not block the camera lenses
  • Stands that can handle the weight of the Pro model without tipping
  • Chargers that stay cool during long sessions

What are the top-rated MagSafe chargers or power banks you have actually tested with your iPhone 16 Pro that offer the best balance of charging speed and magnet strength?

Honestly, that camera bump is basically a mountain this year lol. I had issues with my old gear not sitting flush, which was sooo annoying and honestly a waste of money. For your desk, get the ESR Qi2 MagSafe Charger Stand with Cooling Fan. It has built-in fans cuz these phones get highkey hot during fast charging. For the power bank, I use the Anker MagGo Power Bank (10K) Qi2 Certified 15W Ultra-Fast MagSafe Compatible. It actually fits under the lens without a gap! Tbh, to actually hit 25W, you MUST get the Apple MagSafe Charger 1m (2024) with the Apple 30W USB-C Power Adapter. Most Qi2 stuff is unfortunately still capped at 15W... so dont expect miracles from ur third-party brands yet. Gl!

Just sharing my experience: I went through this same struggle cuz I didnt wanna spend a fortune on official gear. Sooo, basically, Qi2 is great for value but it usually caps at 15W. If you want that full 25W speed on the 16 Pro, youll highkey need the Apple proprietary puck. I tested a few budget-friendly setups:

  • Anker MagGo Power Bank (10K) Qi2 Certified 15W A1654 vs ESR MagSafe Power Bank 5,000mAh with Kickstand: The Anker has way more juice but it's chunky. The ESR is much cheaper and fits better under that massive camera bump without a gap.
  • Belkin BoostCharge Pro 2-in-1 Wireless Charging Pad with Qi2: This stays cooler than my old setup and handles the weight of the Pro easily, even tho it is 15W. I kept the ESR for daily use. Just be careful with thermal build-up if u use thick cases! gl

Can vouch for this

So it looks like the consensus here is basically choosing between the budget friendly Qi2 gear that caps at 15W or paying the Apple tax for that full 25W speed. I have been doing some market research since the launch and tbh the landscape is a bit of a mess right now for the 16 Pro specifically.

  • Not sure but I think some of the high end brands like Satechi or Mophie are still catching up with the camera bump clearance issues on the Pro models this year
  • IIRC even if a brand says they are MagSafe compatible they might not actually have the official Apple module inside to hit that new 25W peak which kinda sucks if u want the fastest top ups
  • Honestly ur probably gonna see a wave of revised products in a few months once these companies realize how huge that lens housing actually is in person
  • Someone told me that certain brands are holding off on new releases until they can guarantee the thermal management handles the higher wattage without throttling but I havent seen proof of that yet Basically it seems like a transition period for the accessory market. If u want the absolute best speed right now u might have to stick to the official puck and a stand that fits it until the third party stuff catches up.

I actually spent the weekend testing my 16 Pro with a USB-C power meter to see how it handles different brands like Anker vs Belkin vs the official puck. Tbh, the 25W thing is super finicky. What I learned is that compatibility is one thing, but physical clearance is the real issue. I tried one of my favorite third-party brands and the housing was just a tiny bit too wide, so it hit the camera bump. That tiny gap made the phone get way hotter than usual. I noticed the official tech has a much better handshake for managing heat—it stays at that higher wattage way longer before throttling down. Basically, if the charger doesnt have a specific cutout or a really slim profile for the lenses, the induction efficiency just tanks. I ended up sticking with the official puck for the desk just because the thermal data was so much better during those long 20W+ bursts.
