Interesting question! For iPhone 13 it also depends on your usage style. What's your main concern?

Depends on what exactly you want to protect on iPhone 13. Screen or also the back?

Honestly I have been reading through all of this and I am getting a bit confused - are we actually looking for camera stabilizers or just phone cases? People have mentioned some really high-end gimbals for smooth video but then there is also talk about leather cases for protection. Tbh as a beginner I find it all a little overwhelming because I just want my phone to be safe and not break if I drop it while I am trying to film. I think maybe we need to know more about what you are actually looking for? Like is your main goal to get those cinematic shots without any shaking or are you just worried about the physical safety of the iPhone 13? I am always super cautious with my gear so I totally get the worry but the advice here is kind of split between two different things. Also what is your budget like? Some of these setups seem really pricey if you are just starting out and want something reliable.

I can warmly recommend DJI OM 7 for iPhone 13. The features are user-friendly The quality out of the box is very good.

> Want to protect my iPhone 13. Which gimbal would you recommend? Ok so I am really new to this whole thing and honestly I was just as confused as everyone else about the word protection. When I first started looking into gimbals I thought it would double as a safety grip but I quickly learned that using one can actually be kind of risky if youre not careful. I tried to save some money by buying a super cheap older model and it was a total headache. One thing I realized is that if you have a thick protective case on your phone to keep it safe it might not even fit in the gimbal clamp. I actually scratched my phone frame trying to force it in because I didnt want to take my case off... definitely not the protection I was looking for. So some things I would be careful about based on my mistakes:

  • Checking the maximum weight limit because the iPhone 13 is heavier than it looks once you add a case
  • Making sure the clamp is wide enough so you dont have to take your case off every single time
  • Balancing it properly because if its off balance the motors get really hot and might just give up I am still figuring this out but I would definitely say dont just go for the cheapest thing you find... sometimes spending a tiny bit more saves you from damaging your phone. Does anyone else worry about the clamp pressure on the screen? I always feel like I am going to crack something if I slide it in wrong.

Can vouch for this

Honestly I think the confusion here is the word protect - basically a gimbal protects your footage from micro-jitters using high-frequency motor corrections rather than protecting the actual hardware from drops. In my experience I started out with a budget stabilizer and the brushless motors would constantly skip because the iPhone 13 weight was too close to the max payload limit. If you want good technical performance you should look for:

  • High torque motors that can handle the phones center of gravity
  • Mechanical axis locks that stay secure during transport
  • Native app support for high bitrate recording Just get any of the newer gear from Insta360 or Hohem and you should be fine. Both brands have really solid stabilization algorithms and build quality that holds up over time. It makes a huge difference for the motor longevity if you dont max out the weight capacity tho.

Ngl the whole protection vs stabilization debate is funny but if youre actually looking for a solid gimbal that wont break the bank, check out the Insta360 Flow AI-Powered Smartphone Stabilizer. Its super portable and has a built-in tripod which is a huge money saver since you dont have to buy extra accessories. If you want something a bit more beefy for a better price than the big name brands, the Hohem iSteady M6 Kit is a beast. It handles the weight of the iPhone 13 really well and the tracking is surprisingly good for the cost. Honestly, just make sure you balance it right or youll burn out the motors, which is the real protection you need to worry about lol. It really helps keep the footage professional without spending a fortune.

If you're looking for reliability above everything else, you really cant go wrong with the DJI Osmo Mobile SE. I've used a ton of these and the DJI ecosystem is just way more stable than the competition. When you say protect, if you mean keeping your footage smooth and professional, this is the one. The motors are super reliable and dont freak out if the phone is slightly off-balance, which is a lifesaver when youre in a rush. Actually, a big part of gimbal protection is making sure the clamp doesnt fail. The magnetic mounting system on the DJI stuff is solid as a rock. Its way safer than the cheap plastic spring-loaded clamps that can snap or lose grip over time. If youre also worried about the physical phone, just make sure you use a slim case like the iPhone+13&linkCode=osi&------123456890?5422-20" target="_blank" rel="nofollow sponsored">Spigen Mag Armor Designed for iPhone 13. Its thin enough to fit in the gimbal clamp but tough enough to handle a bump. Using a gimbal actually helps you keep a better grip on your phone anyway, so it kind of prevents drops in a roundabout way!
