Ive been a loyal UAG guy for like five years now but I just got my 16 Pro Max and honestly the case I bought feels... off. The cutout for that new capacitive camera button is super deep and it makes it hard to actually slide my finger across it smoothly. Plus I noticed the lip on the front is weirdly thin this year maybe because of the smaller bezels?

Im heading out to Glacier National Park in about ten days so I need something that can handle a drop on rocky terrain but actually lets me use the new features. Anyone found a rugged case that doesnt mess with the camera button sensor? Budget is like sixty bucks maybe?

Just saw this and yeah, I've been super disappointed with how brands handled that button. Most cutouts feel unfinished tbh. If you're heading to Glacier, check these:

Quick reply while I have a sec... honestly it's so disappointing how the case manufacturers totally dropped the ball this year. I've been through a few already and they all feel kinda like garbage compared to the old stuff. It's like they just cut a hole in the side and called it a day without actually testing how it feels to use the sensor. Super frustrating when you're spending sixty bucks on something that's supposed to be premium. If you're heading to the park and need real drop protection, maybe look at the iPhone+16+Pro+Max&linkCode=osi&------123456890?5422-20" target="_blank" rel="nofollow sponsored">OtterBox Defender Series XT for iPhone 16 Pro Max. It's usually around $65 which is pushing your budget but the lip and frame are way beefier than the UAG ones lately. Another option that handles the button gestures a bit better is the iPhone+16+Pro+Max&linkCode=osi&------123456890?5422-20" target="_blank" rel="nofollow sponsored">Mous Limitless 5.0 for iPhone 16 Pro Max. It's still not as perfect as cases used to be but at least you can actually reach the capacitive strip without fighting the case. Good luck in Glacier, hope the phone survives the trip...

The camera control button is the main failure point for rugged cases this year. If the frame is too thick around that cutout, you wont be able to use the sliding gestures effectively. Also, be wary of thin front lips. With the reduced bezels, many cases dont provide enough clearance for the screen on rocky terrain. I recommend looking for a design with a tapered edge so you can actually reach the sensor.

The new buttons make these cases feel so unreliable. My cousin once dropped his phone on some rocks and the case just popped off...

  • screen shattered
  • frame bent It was awful tbh.
