What are the best camera lens attachments for the new iPhone 16 because I'm totally overwhelmed by the options and really dont want to waste money on something that wont fit. Im heading to Iceland in like two weeks so I need to order something fast but all the reviews I see are for the 15 or older models. I looked at Moment lenses because everyone says they're the gold standard but then I read somewhere that the new camera bump might mess with the mount? Or that the sensor is bigger so there might be vignetting? I have about $200 to spend and just want a solid wide-angle for the trip. Does anyone actually have hands-on experience with the 16 yet?

In my experience, you really have to be careful with the newer sensors because they're physically larger than what we had a few years back. I've tried many setups over the years, and the big issue with the 16 is that the native lens is already quite wide. If you put an older lens on top, you'll definitely see black rings in your shots. For Iceland, you need high-index glass that handles the light without blurring the edges. Basically, you should stick to this combo to stay under budget:

  • Moment T-Series 18mm Wide Lens
  • iPhone+16+Pro+Case+with+MagSafe&linkCode=osi&------123456890?5422-20" target="_blank" rel="nofollow sponsored">Moment iPhone 16 Pro Case with MagSafe
  • iPhone+16&linkCode=osi&------123456890?5422-20" target="_blank" rel="nofollow sponsored">Moment T-Series Drop-in Lens Mount for iPhone 16 The T-Series glass has a much larger bayonet mount specifically for these bigger sensors. Tbh, skip the clip-on adapters... they never sit right on the new camera bump. Using the dedicated case ensures the lens is perfectly centered, which is huge for sharpness.

Honestly, trying to gear up for the 16 has been a total headache. I had high hopes for my old glass, but the larger sensor is causing real issues with clarity near the edges. Its super disappointing because I just wanted a simple setup. If you're going to Iceland, you definitely dont want to rely on cheap clip-ons that slip. I tried the Sandmarc Wide Lens 16mm and while the glass is decent, you absolutely need their dedicated case or the vignetting is gonna ruin your shots. I also checked out the Beastgrip Pro Series 0.75X Wide Angle Lens which is solid, but you really have to pair it with the Beastgrip Pro Camera Rig to get the alignment right. Its not as portable as I'd like, but for a big trip, reliability is everything. Just be careful with universal mounts... they almost never sit flush enough on the 16.

Just found this thread and honestly, im in the exact same boat. Ive been shooting mobile photography for over a decade now, but this iPhone+16+upgrade+has+been&linkCode=osi&------123456890?5422-20" target="_blank" rel="nofollow sponsored">iPhone 16 upgrade has been the most frustrating experience yet. In my experience, these hardware transitions usually have clear documentation from the manufacturers, but this year everyone is silent. I have a whole drawer of expensive glass that might be paperweights because I cant get a straight answer on the clearance issues or the new sensor size. Ive been scouring the web for weeks trying to confirm if the new camera bump will even allow my mounts to sit flush without causing vignetting or soft edges. Its super annoying when you have big plans and you cant even find a confirmed compatibility list. Still looking for a definitive answer myself and I really dont want to waste more money on gear that wont work.

I've been using the 16 for a bit and the clearance is definitely different. Agreeing with your point about the sensor, the alignment is super tight.

  • obtain a 16-specific mounting plate
  • utilize the newer bayonet interfaces The legacy hardware wont sit flush enough for the new sensor, honestly.

Regarding what mdqhtfyvqj said about "Honestly, trying to gear up for the 16..." - it really is a massive headache this year lol. Im actually pretty happy with how my setup turned out though, even if it took a minute to find the right bits and pieces. Basically, if you want to avoid that vignetting everyone is worried about, you gotta stay within one ecosystem. I have noticed a few things while testing stuff out:

  • Mixing mounts from different brands is just asking for black corners
  • Cases with built-in threads are way more stable than those cheap clips
  • The newer glass designed for the bigger sensors is definitely worth the extra cash Works well enough for me and I havent had any complaints since I stopped trying to force my old glass to work with the new bump... anyway, have a blast in Iceland, its gonna be epic!
