Which MagSafe chargers actually work best with the iPhone 15 Pro without hitting the camera bump?

I'm getting my new phone next week before a big trip to Colorado and I'm honestly lost. I was looking at the standard Apple one but I read online that it slides around too much and doesn't feel worth the 40 bucks. Then I saw some people talking about the ESR chargers with the little kickstand but I'm worried it won't clear the lenses if I use my chunky Spigen case. I really just want something that snaps on tight and doesn't get crazy hot while I'm using it as a GPS in the car. Budget is maybe $60... I just need to know if the magnet is strong enough for bumpy roads.

I've tested dozens of these setups over the years and that 15 Pro camera bump is a beast. For your trip, just get the ESR HaloLock Magnetic Car Mount Charger. It's way cheaper than Apple and actually fits.

  • Magnet is rated for 1,400g so its super strong for bumpy roads.
  • Specifically designed to clear the lens lip.
  • Better heat dissipation than the flat pucks.

Regarding what #1 said about "I've tested dozens of these setups over the..." - he's spot on about that 15 Pro bump. I'd suggest being cautious with heat while driving tho. You might want to consider:

Quick reply while I have a sec... I have spent way too much money testing these things over the years because I am obsessed with getting the max charging wattage without the thermal throttling. Usually, the iPhone+15+Pro+is+particular&linkCode=osi&------123456890?5422-20" target="_blank" rel="nofollow sponsored">iPhone 15 Pro is particularly sensitive to heat when you have the screen brightness up for GPS. I remember a trip through the Rockies last summer where my phone kept dropping the MagSafe connection because the backplate hit 105 degrees. It was a nightmare. If you are using a chunky Spigen case, you need a charger with a raised magnetic ring so the camera lip doesnt prevent a flush seal. Here is what I have had success with:

  • Satechi Magnetic Wireless Car Charger 15W Qi2
  • Ugreen Nexode 15W MagSafe Wireless Car Charger The Satechi is my current daily driver. Since it is Qi2 certified, it hits that 15W sweet spot but the build quality feels way more premium than the plastic ESR stuff. The Ugreen has a slightly smaller diameter which is perfect for clearing that massive 15 Pro camera island even with a thick case like yours. Magnet strength is usually fine on these, but the real trick for those bumpy Colorado roads is making sure the ball joint on the mount is tightened down as much as possible. Standard hand-tightening always slips after a few hours of vibration. Honestly, the Spigen cases have decent internal magnets so you should be fine as long as the charger face is flat and makes full contact. Enjoy the trip tho, the 15 Pro takes some killer mountain photos.

^ This. Also, just catching up on this thread and I gotta say, be really careful with the clearance on that 15 Pro. I had a similar setup a while back where I thought everything was fine, but the charger I bought was just a hair too wide. It looked like it was attached, but because of the camera lip, it wasnt making full contact. My phone ended up getting crazy hot and actually stopped charging right when I needed the GPS most... super annoying when youre in the middle of nowhere. Honestly, the heat is the real killer with these MagSafe mounts in the car. I ended up switching to a different brand that had better airflow, but even then, a thick case can mess with the magnets. Quick question tho, which Spigen case are you rocking exactly? Some of those have much deeper recesses for the magnets than others, and it might make a huge difference on whether the charger actually sits flush against the back or just dangles there.

Wait really?? Thats actually super helpful. I always thought it was the other way around.
