I just pre-ordered the Pixel 9 Pro XL and I’m looking for a solid case that won't add too much bulk but has a reliable kickstand. I use my phone a lot for watching YouTube during lunch and for video calls, so I need a stand that works in both portrait and landscape modes without being flimsy. I've looked at the Spigen Tough Armor, but I'm curious if there are thinner options or maybe something with a ring-style stand that is MagSafe compatible. Does anyone have hands-on experience with a specific brand that fits well and doesn't wobble when typing? What’s the best kickstand case you’ve found so far for the XL?

sooo i feel u on the struggle. honestly, i've tried a few but had issues with some being super flimsy. i used the Spigen Tough Armor for Pixel 9 Pro XL and while it's safe, it's *way* too bulky for me. instead, i'd suggest looking at the TORRAS Magnetic Guardian Case for Pixel 9 Pro XL. it's got that magsafe ring that doubles as a stand! it works in portrait but it's kinda wobbly if ur typing hard. if u want something more heavy-duty but thinner than spigen, maybe try the Poetic Spartan Case for Pixel 9 Pro XL. basically, go with torras if u want slim, but ngl the ring stands can feel a bit loose after a few months... gl!

Seconding the recommendation above for the Torras stuff! Honestly, over the years I've tried many cases and I've found that you really get what you pay for when it comes to the hinge mechanism. If you go too cheap, the stand literally just gives out after a month or two of video calls.

In my experience, if you want to balance cost and functionality, the TORRAS Magnetic P-Stand Case for Pixel 9 Pro XL is a solid value proposition. It's way thinner than that Spigen Tough Armor everyone mentions, and the ring stand is actually MagSafe compatible so you can use it with chargers too. Another great option if you want something even more lowkey is the ESR Classic Series Case with Stash Stand for Pixel 9 Pro XL. It's usually a bit cheaper than Torras and the stand is hidden around the camera bump, so it wont wobble when you're typing on a flat surface. Plus, those metallic hinges tend to hold up much better long-term compared to plastic ones. Hope that helps you save a few bucks while keeping the XL safe!! peace

Ok so I went through this last year with my old phone and basically learned that hinge safety is EVERYTHING. I was sooo worried about dropping it during video calls! I ended up trying a few and honestly:

1. ESR Boost Flickstand Case for Pixel 9 Pro XL - Highkey the sturdiest kickstand I've used. It's metal, so it actually feels safe and doesnt wobble when typing.
2. Caseology Athlex for Pixel 9 Pro XL - No MagSafe here, but the grip is AMAZING if you're worried about drops!

I mean, I'd probably go with the ESR for the stand quality. GL!

Ok so I totally agree with the point about hinge quality—it's basically the first thing to fail. I’m always pretty cautious about my gear, so I’ve been testing the VRS Design QuickStand Modern for Pixel 9 Pro XL to see if it holds up under real-world pressure. Tbh, it’s much more stable than the ring-style stands if you’re actually typing on the screen while it’s propped up. Quick tip: Idk if it’s just me, but I always look for a stand that has a wider footprint on the desk. The thin ring stands are great for MagSafe, but they tend to wobble like crazy if you’re tapping the screen during a call. This one feels a lot more planted. Just make sure you check the hinge tension right away; if there's any play in the mechanism out of the box, it usually means it’ll wear out fast. This one has stayed stiff through a week of constant video calls so far.
