Does anyone use a MagSafe adapter on Pixel 8?

I recently switched to the Pixel 8 and I'm really missing the convenience of MagSafe from my old setup. I have a magnetic car mount and a wallet that I’d love to keep using, but obviously, the Pixel doesn't have built-in magnets. I've seen those stick-on magnetic rings and special cases, but I'm worried about them interfering with wireless charging speeds or causing the phone to overheat. Has anyone tried a specific brand like Spigen or Mous for this? I’m looking for something that aligns perfectly with the coils and stays secure. Are you getting reliable charging with your adapter, or does it feel like more trouble than it's worth?

Sooo I was super nervous about this too! For your situation, I would suggest getting the Spigen Magnetic Ring Adapter MagFit. I literally just stuck one on my Pixel 8 case yesterday and it's AMAZING!! It comes with this cool plastic guide so you align it perfectly with the G logoβ€”which is basically where the coils are. I'm using it with a Spigen Liquid Air Case for Pixel 8 and the magnets are so strong! My wallet stays put and charging hasn't caused any weird heat issues yet. Tbh, it's a total game changer for the car mount!! 👍

Honestly, I feel u on this. I've been a total tech nerd for years and switching from iPhone+to+Pixel+always+make&linkCode=osi&------123456890?5422-20" target="_blank" rel="nofollow sponsored">iPhone to Pixel always makes me miss MagSafe literally instantly. Over the years, I've tried basically every way to get it back on my Android devices without breaking the bank. In my experience, you definitely don't need to spend 50+ bucks on those high-end boutique cases to get a solid connection.

Here's how I see the options for a Pixel 8 based on the setups I've messed with:

* **The Built-in Magnetic Case Route:** This is usually the cleanest look. I've used some cases from brands like Peak Design or even some cheaper ones from ESR. They're awesome cuz the alignment is done for you, but they can be a bit pricier if you're looking for something rugged.
* **The DIY Stick-on Ring Route:** This is the most cost-effective way. Just get a standard TPU case and slap a ring on it. Brands like ESR or Moko make great ones. The trick is making sure it's centered over the 'G' logo so the wireless charging doesn't get wonky or cause that overheating you're worried about.

I mean, if you're worried about the heat, just get any decent ring from ESR and you'll be fine. I've used their universal rings on my last three phones and never had an issue with charging speeds slowing down. Just make sure the surface is super clean before you stick it on or it'll peel off when you pull the phone off your car mount! It's honestly SO much better than switching your whole ecosystem of accessories. gl!

So basically, MagSafe works by aligning magnets with the charging coils so the power transfer is efficient. Honestly, I was super cautious about it too cuz I didn't want my Pixel 8 overheating! I ended up just getting a case from Mous and it's been awesome. Everything stays secure and charging is actually really reliable. I'd say just go with a case from Spigen or Mous and you'll be fine, just make sure it's the specific MagSafe-compatible version! gl!

Late to the party, but it looks like the general consensus here is that precise alignment with the internal Qi coil is the biggest hurdle to avoid thermal issues. If the magnetic array isn't centered, you're looking at significant induction loss which basically just turns into heat instead of power. To help narrow down the best setup for you though, I have two questions:
- Are you using an EPP-compatible charger at home for high speeds, or just a standard 5W/7.5W mount?
- Is your current magnetic wallet a standard Apple-style one or a third-party variant with extra shielding? Imo, the technical specs of your existing accessories matter because certain ring thicknesses can actually interfere with the handshake between the Pixel 8 and the charging pad. It's definitely not more trouble than it's worth if you get the placement right, but getting it wrong will definitely throttle your charging speeds and heat up the battery, ngl.
