Hey everyone! I finally pulled the trigger on the new Google Pixel 8a in that gorgeous Aloe green color. I’m upgrading from an aging Pixel 4a, so this feels like a massive leap forward in terms of the screen and camera quality. I managed to snag a pretty good trade-in deal, but after paying the balance and taxes, my 'tech budget' for the month is looking a little thin. I really want to make sure this phone stays in perfect condition, especially since Google is promising seven years of updates—I need this hardware to actually last that long!

I’m currently rocking the phone 'naked,' and it makes me incredibly nervous. It’s a bit more slippery than I expected, and I’m terrified of seeing that first scratch on the Actua display. Since the box is so slim these days, I realized I’m also missing a few essentials. Specifically, I need a reliable charging brick. I know Pixels can be a bit finicky with Power Delivery (PD) and PPS standards to get the actual fast-charging speeds, and I don't want to spend $30 on the official Google plug if I don't have to.

I’m also on the hunt for a solid case and screen protector combo. In the past, I’ve used tempered glass protectors that completely ruined the under-display fingerprint sensor experience, so I’m really looking for something that is confirmed to work smoothly with the 8a’s sensor. For the case, I’m looking for something slim enough to fit in my pocket but rugged enough to survive a drop on the sidewalk.

I’ve been browsing Amazon and seeing a million different brands like Spigen, Caseology, and a bunch of names I’ve never heard of. It’s getting a bit overwhelming trying to figure out what’s actually high quality and what’s just cheap junk. Does anyone have a 'starter pack' of budget-friendly accessories they recommend? What are your must-have, wallet-friendly accessories that provide the best bang for your buck for the Pixel 8a right now?

Before comparing Caseology Athlex for Google Pixel 8a vs Spigen Tough Armor for Google Pixel 8a, clarify:
- Do u drop ur phone often? Safety first!!
- Is PPS charging top priority?

Seconding the TPU suggestion! honestly, Ringke Invisible Defender for Google Pixel 8a TPU Film Screen Protector is awesome. plus Spigen Liquid Air for Google Pixel 8a Matte Black Case is thin but super tough, right?

Here's what I recommend:
warning: dont buy generic bricks without PPS support or ur 8a basically wont fast charge. Pixels are super picky about the PD standard... its annoying. - Power: Anker vs Ugreen. i found Anker is more compact, but Ugreen is cheaper.
- Cases: Spigen vs Caseology. Spigen is more rugged, but Caseology looks nicer.
- Screen: Glass vs Film. Glass usually ruins the sensor... i'd go with film so it actually works.

Any updates on this?

Hmm, I've had a different experience. Comparing glass to TPU, I think ur actually better off with TPU film protectors... they just work better with the sensor imo. For charging, expensive brands vs cheap ones doesn't matter much if they both have PPS. I've used the cheaper ones before and it's a decent option. Honestly, basically any brand with good reviews is fine. I just get bundles from cheaper brands and it works great tho!
