I just picked up the new Google Pixel 8a and I’m absolutely loving the compact size and feel of it in my hand. However, I’m a bit worried about everyday scratches, so I’m looking for a case that offers basic protection without turning the phone into a bulky brick. I’ve checked out a few generic options, but most seem way too thick for my liking. I’m really after that 'second skin' feel, ideally something that still protects the camera bar while staying ultra-slim. Has anyone tried the aramid fiber cases or a specific minimalist TPU brand that doesn't lose its shape? What’s the absolute thinnest case you’ve found so far that actually fits the 8a perfectly?

In my experience, most thin TPU cases just end up sagging after a few months. If ur looking for that true "second skin" feel, I’d definitely suggest the Latercase Cyber Edition for Google Pixel 8a. It’s ultra-thin aramid fiber and actually stays tight. Another solid choice is the Ringke Slim Case for Google Pixel 8a—it’s hard polycarbonate, so it wont stretch out like cheap silicone does. Both protect the camera bar perfectly. gl!

Sooo, I was in the same boat last week! I really wanted that slim look but honestly, I couldn't justify spending $45 on those carbon fiber cases everyone talks about... I mean, it's just a case, right? If ur like me and want to keep the cost down while getting that "second skin" feel, I would suggest looking into some of the cheaper brands that use PP or thin TPU. Here's what I recommend for the budget-conscious:
* X-Level Guardian Series Case for Google Pixel 8a - It's a soft-touch TPU that's surprisingly thin for about $12.
* Memumi Ultra Slim Case for Google Pixel 8a - This one is 0.3mm and basically feels like paper. Just be careful tho—these are strictly for scratches. If u drop ur phone on concrete, it probably wont end well... but they're great for keeping that compact 8a feel. gl!

For your situation, I would suggest comparing Thinborne Google Pixel 8a Case vs Spigen Air Skin Designed for Pixel 8a vs the official Google Pixel 8a Case. Thinborne is 600D Aramid and ultra-slim (0.04”), but the Spigen is TPU and eventually stretches. The Google one is grippy but way too bulky. So, the Thinborne is the best choice for ur technical 'skin' fit. Just be careful cuz it wont handle big drops!! gl!

yo, tech-wise you gotta look at the material specs! Aramid vs TPU vs PC. Aramid is literally incredible cuz of the strength-to-weight ratio... basically aerospace grade safety!! TPU stretches over time and PC is too brittle. Honestly? Go with any Aramid fiber brand like Pitaka... its the only way to get that 'second skin' feel without sacrificing safety. Seriously, its the best choice for the 8a!! peace

> I’m really after that 'second skin' feel, ideally something that still protects the camera bar while staying ultra-slim. Tbh, if you're strictly worried about scratches and want zero bulk, the DIY route of applying a precision skin is technically superior to any snap-on case. From an engineering standpoint, even the thinnest aramid cases add at least 0.5mm of offset. I’ve always found that a dbrand Skin for Google Pixel 8a is the most reliable way to maintain the 8a's ergonomics. It’s a high-grade 3M vinyl wrap that’s only about 0.23mm thick, which is basically negligible. If you want the *absolute* thinnest protection, you could look into a wet-install film like the Slickwraps Naked Series for Pixel 8a. It’s a medical-grade thermoplastic polyurethane film. You have to be realy careful with the application process—prep the chassis with 99% isopropyl alcohol to ensure it meets proper adhesion standards—but once it cures, it’s basically invisible. It covers the camera bar visor too, which is the most prone to micro-abrasions. For a minimalist, this DIY approach is way more effective than a bulky TPU shell that’s just gonna trap dust and scratch the frame anyway. Peace.
