Just upgraded to the Pixel 9 Pro XL and realized my old bricks aren't cutting it. I know this model supports up to 37W, but I'm confused about which PPS chargers actually hit those speeds. Does anyone have recommendations for a compact GaN brick that won't overheat? What are you guys using to get the fastest top-ups?

Quick question - before I dump a bunch of technical specs on u, are u looking for just a tiny single-port brick for travel or do u need something multi-port that can handle a laptop too?? Also did u get a 5A cable yet?? Cuz if ur using an old cable it literally wont matter how good the brick is lol.

Had a moment to think about this more and honestly I feel u on the confusion... the PPS thing is such a headache and I've been disappointed by 'fast' chargers before that ended up being slow as heck on my Pixel. Basically, u gotta find something that specifically hits the 11V/5A profile or it wont hit the max 37W speeds.

I've been comparing a few lately:
- Google 45W USB-C Power Charger: Official choice but honestly it's kinda overpriced for a single port.
- Anker 713 Charger (Nano II 45W): Tiny and portable but it gets highkey warm during a full 0-100% top up... kinda worried me at first.
- Ugreen Nexode 45W Dual USB C GaN Charger: Best value with dual ports, tho PPS handshake can be weird sometimes.
Best choice: Go with the Google one if u want zero issues, but Anker is better for ur bag.

Anyway let me know about the ports thing!! Quick tip: check the fine print for PPS support specifically up to 45W. Dont get the 30W ones cuz they wont cut it for the Pro XL. peace

late to the party but i've learned that some bricks lie about specs... check out the Samsung 45W USB-C Wall Charger EP-T4510 for a solid, cheaper alternative to the official one. There's a great resource at Chargerlab for thermal tests if ur worried about overheating. Quick tip: make sure ur cable is a 5A E-Marked one or u wont hit 37W speeds tbh!!

I would suggest being careful with cheap bricks cuz safety and PPS compatibility are *basically* key... whats your budget? looking for a single-port or multi-port hub?

I was honestly so stressed about picking the wrong thing because i dont want to ruin my battery... i'm still learning about all this PPS stuff but I spent like three hours yesterday just comparing brands to see which ones are actually legit. It feels like there are so many random brands on Amazon that might not be safe and it makes me nervous lol. From what I found during my research, these ones seem pretty solid compared to the really cheap stuff:

  • Google 45W USB-C Power Adapter
  • I ended up just getting this one because i'm cautious and wanted the official thing, it works perfectly and doesnt get too hot
  • Belkin BoostCharge Pro 45W USB-C Wall Charger with PPS
  • Belkin is usually super reliable and you can find them in actual stores like Best Buy which makes me feel better
  • Spigen ArcStation Pro 45W Wall Charger - this one is really small and people say the heat management is decent for a GaN brick Basically i was looking for something that wouldnt get weirdly hot while charging. Is it true that the official one is definetly the safest or am I just being paranoid? Its just a lot of money for a phone so I wanted to be careful with the power things haha.

ngl i have been dealing with this exact same headache for like a month now... bought the 9 pro xl at launch and i still havent found a brick that feels totally right. i am looking at a few different brands but its a mess trying to figure out which ones actually sustain that 37w peak without dropping down after a few minutes. before i can really weigh in, i gotta ask a couple things:

  • what brands have you already looked at and ruled out?
  • are you mostly looking for a super tiny single port thing or do you need something that can handle a tablet or laptop too? im honestly just as stuck as you are tho. every time i think i found the one, i see a review saying the pps profile isnt quite right for the new pixels. been staring at spec sheets for ages and still havent pulled the trigger on anything yet... just frustrating how picky these phones are with the handshake...
