I just upgraded to the Google Pixel 8 Pro and I'm absolutely loving the phone, but I've realized my old charging bricks aren't cutting it. It feels like it takes forever to reach a full charge! I know this model supports up to 30W wired charging, but I’m a bit confused about the specific requirements. I've read that I need a charger with USB-C PD 3.0 and PPS support to actually hit those top speeds. Does anyone have specific recommendations for reliable brands like Anker or Ugreen that work perfectly with the Pixel? I’m looking for something compact for travel. What's the fastest and most reliable charger you guys are currently using for your 8 Pro?

Oh man, I totally feel u on this! I'm super cautious about my tech cuz I've literally seen cheap bricks fry batteries before. Honestly, you're 100% right about needing PPS (Programmable Power Supply) support. Without it, the Pixel 8 Pro won't actually hit that sweet 30W peak and it'll just trickle charge forever lol.

I've been using the Anker 711 Charger Nano II 30W for my travel kit and it's been amazing!! It's tiny but follows all the safety standards perfectly. If you want a bit more headroom for future-proofing, I highkey recommend the Ugreen Nexode 45W Dual USB C GaN Charger. It handles the PPS protocol flawlessly and stays super cool while charging, which is great cuz heat is the enemy of battery health!! Basically, just stick to those GaN chargers and you'll be golden. gl! 👍

Quick question - are you looking for just a single-port brick for travel, or do you need something that can juice up a laptop too? Knowing that helps narrow down the wattage. In my experience, even tho 30W is the max for the Google Pixel 8 Pro, I usually aim for a 45W or 65W brick for better value.

1. Anker 713 Charger (Nano II 45W) - Tiny and handles PPS perfectly.
2. Ugreen Nexode 45W Dual USB C GaN Charger - Great if you need to charge buds too.

Lemme know your priority!

This^ Also wanted to add that choosing the right charger for the Pixel 8 Pro basically comes down to the PPS (Programmable Power Supply) standard. Basically, PPS lets the phone talk to the brick to adjust voltage in real-time, which keeps heat down and keeps that 30W speed consistent. If you use a standard PD charger without PPS, it'll often drop down to 18W or 20W, which is why it feels like it takes forever lol.

Since you want compact travel options, here are two I've used that are super reliable and cheaper than the official Google one:

1. Anker 511 Charger Nano 3 30W vs Ugreen Nexode Mini 30W GaN Fast Charger

- The Anker is seriously tiny and has a foldable plug, which is a lifesaver for travel so it doesn't poke holes in your bag. It's usually around $20ish.
- The Ugreen is also super solid and often goes on sale for like $13-15. It's a bit more "blocky" but the build quality is great for the price.

Honestly, either of these works perfectly because they both support the specific PPS tech the 8 Pro needs. I'd just grab whichever is on sale tbh! plus, don't forget you need a decent C-to-C cable that can actually handle the wattage too. good luck!!

Works great for me

Just catching up on this thread. Everyone here is totally right about the PPS requirement. Tbh, without it, your Pixel 8 Pro is gonna default to much slower speeds to prevent overheating. I've been messing with power delivery specs for years, and the DIY way to check if your setup is actually working is to use a watt meter. Since the common Anker and Ugreen options were already covered, I'd suggest looking at the Spigen ArcStation Pro 45W GaN. It is super small and handles the PPS protocol perfectly. Another solid one is the Satechi 30W USB-C GaN Wall Charger. It is tiny and built like a tank. If you really want to see the tech in action, get a MakerHawk USB C Tester. It lets you see the real-time voltage and current negotiation. It's a great way to verify your cables too, since a bad cable can bottleneck even the best charger. Just some food for thought for your travel kit!
