Hey everyone! I finally pulled the trigger and upgraded to the Google Pixel 8 Pro, and man, this screen is gorgeous. However, I’ve run into a bit of a dilemma now that I’m back on the road for my daily commute. My old generic car mount that I used for my Pixel 6 just isn't cutting it anymore. The 8 Pro is significantly beefier, and my current mount keeps drooping or losing its grip whenever I hit a minor speed bump, which is honestly a bit nerve-wracking given how much this phone costs!
I’m really looking for a high-quality car mount and wireless charger setup that can actually handle the weight of the Pro model. I’m currently using the official Google silicone case, so I need something with arms wide enough to accommodate the phone + case, or perhaps a magnetic solution if people have had success with those adhesive rings.
One thing I'm specifically concerned about is the charging speed and heat management. I’ve noticed that with some older wireless chargers, the phone barely stays at the same percentage when I’m running Google Maps and streaming Spotify simultaneously. Ideally, I’d love a charger that actually increases the battery percentage during a 30-minute drive without causing the phone to throttle due to heat. I’ve been looking at some of the iOttie Easy One Touch models and some of the newer Qi2-compatible mounts, but I’m not sure which ones play nice with the Pixel’s internal coil alignment.
Does anyone have a specific setup they swear by? I’m open to vent mounts, dashboard sticky mounts, or even cup holder mounts if they are stable enough. I’m willing to spend around $50-$80 for a setup that is durable and provides a fast, reliable charge.
What are your top recommendations for a mount and wireless charger that can securely hold the Pixel 8 Pro and provide decent charging speeds while on the go?

Hmm, I've had a different experience... I was so nervous about my 8 Pro overheating and losing charge while driving!! 1. ESR for MagSafe Car Mount with CryoBoost: • Pros: Cooling fan helps?
• Cons: Needs magnetic ring.
2. LISEN Magnetic Wireless Car Charger with Cooling Fan: • Pros: Reallyyy stable.
• Cons: Kinda bulky. Lesson learned: I'm much happier with active cooling, it feels safer for the battery. Maybe try that??

Curious about one thing: are you 100% attached to the official silicone case, or would you swap it for a MagSafe-compatible one? Since you're worried about heat and charging speeds while running Maps—which is *literally* the biggest battery killer—it really changes the technical recommendations I'd give. Basically, if you stay with the silicone case, you need a heavy-duty motorized clamp. I'd look at the CHOOVATECH 15W Wireless Car Charger Mount—it's super affordable and the arms are wide enough for the Pro. Oh man, I totally feel u!! I had the same sagging issue with my 8 Pro cuz it's such a tank. I grabbed the iOttie Easy One Touch 5 Wireless Dash & Windshield Mount and it's been AMAZING. It handles the beefy size perfectly. Basically, u gotta align the bottom foot just right so the coils line up—that’s how it stays cool while charging fast!! Best $60 I’ve spent tbh. gl!

Before I give advice, curious about one thing: what's the wattage of your current power adapter? Over the years, I've found the source is basically the real bottleneck. 1. Does it actually support the PPS protocol for Pixels?
2. Are you open to using an ESR HaloLock Universal Ring 360 on that case? Heat's a massive issue for the 8 Pro, so I wanna be sure we get this right tho.
