I just pre-ordered the new Pixel 9 Pro and I am beyond excited to get it! Since this is a pretty big investment, I want to make sure I have the right protection ready to go from day one. I am looking for a case that offers solid drop protection for that unique camera bar but still feels relatively slim in the hand. I am also specifically worried about the ultrasonic fingerprint sensor and whether a tempered glass screen protector will interfere with it. Do you guys have any favorite brands that are confirmed to fit well and keep the sensor working perfectly? What are your top recommendations for a durable but sleek setup?

In my experience, i'd suggest:

Quick question - before I give advice, are you looking for "Made for Google" certified gear or just the best value?? Honestly, those ultrasonic sensors are SO finicky because they use sound waves. If the adhesive or glass density is off, the signal basically dies.

  • Ringke Onyx Case for Pixel 9 Pro for amazing grip
  • amFilm OneTouch Tempered Glass for Pixel 9 Pro for sensor compatibility Let me know your budget!

yo, been thinking about your question since I've seen so many folks mess up their sensor experience with junk glass. Over the years, I've tried many setups and honestly, being cautious reallyy pays off. You don't wanna risk a $1k phone on a $2 protector that doesnt even work properly. Check out the official Made for Google directory online. It is a great resource that lists every brand they've actually tested for compatibility. If a brand isnt on that list, I usually wont touch it because the ultrasonic sensors are soo finicky with adhesive density. Here is how I would break down the best budget-friendly but safe setups I have compared:

  • Option A: Supcase Unicorn Beetle Pro for Pixel 9 Pro (approx $25)
  • Option B: Crave Dual Guard for Pixel 9 Pro (approx $16)
  • Option C: Whitestone Dome Glass 2-pack for Pixel 9 Pro (approx $35) Pros and Cons:
  • The Supcase Unicorn Beetle Pro for Pixel 9 Pro is basically a tank. It has a built-in kickstand and serious camera bar protection, but its highkey bulky if you want that slim feel.
  • The Crave Dual Guard for Pixel 9 Pro is the budget king. Its thin but has two layers for shock absorption. It wont protect the screen from a face-down drop as well as others though.
  • The Whitestone Dome Glass 2-pack for Pixel 9 Pro is the only glass I trust for the fingerprint sensor because it uses liquid UV adhesive. It's more expensive than basic tempered glass but it actually works. Best choice? Ngl, if you want safety on a budget, go with the Crave Dual Guard for Pixel 9 Pro paired with the Whitestone Dome Glass 2-pack for Pixel 9 Pro. Youll spend around $50 total, which sounds like a lot for protection, but it is way cheaper than a screen repair. In my experience, skipping the quality glass just leads to a dead sensor. good luck!

Before I give advice, can u clarify ur budget? Warning: cheap tempered glass is a trap. These ultrasonic sensors use sound waves, so if the acoustic impedance of the adhesive is off, it basically wont read ur thumb at all.

  • Improper density blocks the signal
  • Poor adhesive ruins the tech I'm satisfied with my setup, but do u NEED glass or is a hybrid film okay?
