Hey everyone! I just finally pulled the trigger on the new Pixel 9 Pro XL in that gorgeous Hazel color, and I am absolutely terrified of dropping it. It's such a massive phone compared to my old base model, and the finish feels a bit slippery in my hand. I really want to keep it looking pristine, especially that new rounded camera bar, but I'm struggling to find the right balance between protection and style.
I've been looking at a few options but I'm undecided. I've always used Spigen in the past, but I'm wondering if their Tough Armor makes this already huge phone feel like a brick. On the other hand, I looked at the official Google silicone cases, but I've heard they can be total lint magnets in pockets. I also really want to show off the color, so maybe a clear case? But do those actually stay clear or just turn yellow after a month?
I'm specifically looking for something that has:
What are you guys using to keep your 9 Pro XL safe? I'd love to hear some real-world feedback before I drop more money on a case that ends up being junk. What are the best protective cases for Pixel 9 Pro XL?
I totally agree that official silicone cases are lint magnets, it drives me crazy. If you want to show off that Hazel color, the Ringke Fusion Pixel 9 Pro XL Clear is a solid bet for protection without the bulk. Otherwise, the Ringke Onyx Pixel 9 Pro XL Case is my go-to for pure grip. Its cheap and basically indestructible. Just remember that clear cases always yellow eventually, so dont overpay for them!
Just catching up on this thread. If you want protection without the bulk of the Tough Armor, check out the Spigen Liquid Air Pixel 9 Pro XL Matte Black. It uses Air Cushion tech for corner impacts and has a 1.2mm lip for the camera bar. Alternatively, the Mous Limitless 5.0 Pixel 9 Pro XL Aramid Fiber uses AiroShock material which absorbs energy better than standard TPU while keeping the profile thin.
Congrats on the new phone! I totally get the anxiety, the Pixel 9 Pro XL is definitely a big investment and it feels so slippery without a case. I am super paranoid about dropping mine too. I actually tried the official silicone one and you are right, it is a total lint magnet. I ended up getting the Dbrand Grip Case for Pixel 9 Pro XL and it has been amazing for my peace of mind. The texture is really unique, almost like a fine sandpaper, so it basically sticks to your hand. It has great corner protection and a deep lip for the camera bar. If you want something slightly less expensive but still very rugged, I also looked at the Caseology Athlex for Pixel 9 Pro XL Active Black. It has a similar focus on grip and feels very solid. Better safe than sorry imo!
Huh interesting. I had no idea. The more you know I guess 🤷
