Ive been a Pixel fanboy since the 2 XL days so I usually know my way around the accessory market but the design change on the 9 is throwing me for a loop. Its so much more boxy than the old curved ones and Im worried the usual suspects like the Spigen Liquid Air wont give enough lip for that massive camera bar. My logic was to just grab whatever has the best grip since this thing is like a wet bar of soap but I need something fast before I head to Chicago next Tuesday for a work gig. I was looking at those Mous cases because people rave about them but are they actually worth sixty bucks? I dont want to ruin this screen on the first day. What are you guys actually using that doesnt feel like a brick?

Adding my two cents here, but i gotta politely disagree about just grabbing the cheapest thing available. Unfortunately, many budget options skip out on actual impact-rated materials like D3O or Graphene. I've had issues with those simple TPU cases losing their shape after a month... and once that happens, your camera bar is basically unprotected. Tbh, it's not just about the drop; it's about the vibration dampening for the internal sensors. I was actually pretty disappointed with how some big brands handled the lip height this year. They barely clear the glass. Since you're heading to Chicago and need it fast, maybe look at the ZAGG Denali Case for Pixel 9 Black. It's rated for 16ft drops but feels way slimmer than a brick. It uses Graphene which helps with the heat issues Pixels sometimes get during heavy use. Another solid bet is the UAG Scout Series for Pixel 9 Black. It has a textured grip that's great for one-handed use while you're navigating a city, tho the industrial look isn't for everyone. Quick tip: Always wipe down the inside of the case every few days. Dust gets trapped near that massive camera visor and will scratch the frame. Also, dont buy cases with flat interior plastic; look for internal micro-ribbing to help with heat dissipation during GPS use. Let me know if you need more info on the drop data!

Honestly skip the sixty dollar Mous trap. In my experience you are mostly paying for marketing. I have tried many brands over the years and budget options protect that camera bar just as well. Right now Im swapping between:

Re: Honestly skip the sixty dollar Mous trap... I totally agree on the pricing. If you're heading to Chicago soon, you need something that handles city streets without being a total tank. I've been really happy with the Spigen Tough Armor for Pixel 9 Black. It has this dual-layer setup with impact foam that honestly works better than most of the high-end boutique brands. The lip for the camera bar is deep enough that you can set it down anywhere without stressing about scratches. Another solid choice if you're worried about the soap-bar feel is the Dbrand Grip Case for Pixel 9 Black. The texture is basically microscopic ridges that lock into your hand. It's very low profile but the structural integrity is top tier. These options give you that peace of mind for the screen and the sensors without costing a fortune or making the phone feel like a brick in your pocket.
