so i just pulled the trigger on the pixel 9 pro xl and im literally shaking bc it cost me like 1100 bucks. it arrives here in seattle on friday and i have no clue what im doing. my last phone was a total piece of junk so ive never really bought stuff for one before. i dont want to scratch the screen or anything but there are like a million cases and plugs and things and im just totally overwhelmed. do i need a special brick for the wall? sorry if this is a dumb question but i really dont want to ruin this thing on day one. what are the must have accessories i need to get right now?

Just found this thread while looking for cable management. I have been quite satisfied with my current setup after testing a few options for my own XL.

  • Caseology Athlex for Pixel 9 Pro XL Active Orange: This case is very cost-effective. The integrated grip texture works well to prevent accidental slips, though it does add a bit of thickness to the phone.
  • Mous Protective Case for Pixel 9 Pro XL Limitless 5.0: This is a premium alternative. It offers superior impact protection but comes at a much higher price point.
  • UGREEN Nexode 45W USB C Charger 2-Port: This charger is efficient. It handles the pixels power needs easily and the second port is convenient for charging a second device. I prefer this mix of gear because it balances high-end protection where it matters with more affordable options for daily use... honestly saves a lot of money in the long run. No complaints so far with how everything fits.

Like someone mentioned, dodgy chargers are a huge risk. Since the XL supports PPS for that 37W peak, you want hardware that negotiates power correctly. Im really satisfied with this setup:

  • Google 45W USB-C Power Adapter GA05174-US
  • Anker 765 USB-C to USB-C Cable 140W Nylon It runs cool and hits those fast charging curves perfectly. No complaints tho, definitely gives me peace of mind for such an expensive device.

Congrats on the new phone. I totally get the anxiety... i was the same way when i dropped over a grand on my last device. I actually cracked my screen once because i tried to go naked with no case for just one day and i regretted it immediately. It cost me like 300 bucks for the repair which was a total nightmare, so now i always buy protection before the phone even arrives. Regarding the wall brick, yeah you definitely need a new one. Most old chargers are way too slow now. I used an old 5W cube once and it basically just kept the phone from dying rather than actually charging it. Choosing a specific setup depends on your needs for speed, but these are decent options that just work:

  • Spigen Liquid Air Case for Pixel 9 Pro XL Matte Black
  • This is a solid, reliable case that isnt too bulky but has saved me from several concrete drops.
  • Spigen Glas.tR EZ Fit Tempered Glass for Pixel 9 Pro XL
  • It comes with an alignment tool that makes it basically foolproof to install without bubbles.
  • Anker 511 Charger Nano 3 30W GaN
  • This thing is super small and handles the fast charging specs perfectly. Just a heads up, I always put the screen protector on immediately after unboxing before any dust can settle on the glass. It saves so much hassle compared to trying to clean it later. You dont want to be staring at a tiny piece of lint under your glass for the next two years.

regarding what #1 said about congrats on the new phone. i totally get...

  • honestly i felt the same way with my last one. i was so paranoid. i used an old adapter i had lying around and it started making a weird buzzing sound... super scary. do you usually charge your phone overnight or just quick top-ups? it really changes what i would suggest to keep it safe tho.
