Which earbuds work best with the Google Pixel 7a?

Hey everyone! I finally made the jump and picked up the Google Pixel 7a in that gorgeous Sea color. I’m absolutely loving the clean Android experience so far, and the camera is honestly mind-blowing for a mid-range phone. However, I’ve hit a bit of a snag—I realized my old wired headphones are basically useless now since there's no jack, and my cheap pair of generic Bluetooth buds from a few years ago keeps dropping the connection whenever I put the phone in my pocket or walk more than five feet away.

I’m looking for a pair of earbuds that really "sing" with the 7a. Since this is my daily driver, I’m using it for everything from catching up on podcasts during my 45-minute train commute to taking work calls in a fairly busy open-plan office. I’ve been looking closely at the Pixel Buds Pro because I assume the ecosystem integration is the best, but I’ve also heard amazing things about the Sony WF-1000XM5s and even some of the mid-range Jabra models.

My main priorities are a rock-solid stable connection (no stuttering!), high-quality Active Noise Cancellation (ANC) to drown out the train commute, and hopefully something that supports Google’s "Fast Pair" feature so I don't have to dive into the settings menu every single time. I'm also curious about battery life—I’d love to get through a full workday without having to pop them back in the case constantly.

I’m a little confused about whether I should stick strictly to the Google ecosystem to get features like spatial audio and seamless device switching, or if third-party buds work just as well on the A-series hardware. Does the 7a handle high-end codecs like LDAC well, or is that overkill for this specific device? My budget is around $150 to $200, though I might stretch it for the right pair.

For those of you currently rocking a Pixel 7a, what are you using for your audio, and do you feel like you’re getting the most out of the phone’s features with them?

Ok so, basically the deal with Pixels is that they use Google's proprietary "Fast Pair" tech, which is why your old cheap buds are probably acting up. It ensures a rock-solid handshake between the phone and the buds. This matters because it stops that annoying stuttering when your phone is in your pocket. I'm definitely no expert, but I've been using the Google Pixel Buds Pro - Noise Canceling Earbuds with my 7a for a few months. Honestly, the integration is the best part. You get features like spatial audio and that "seamless switching" between devices without having to dig through menus. The 7a DOES support LDAC, but honestly, it's kinda overkill for podcasts and commutes. The battery life on mine usually lasts about 7 hours of straight use. If you want better ANC, I've heard the Sony WF-1000XM5 Noise Canceling Truly Wireless Earbuds are better, but they cost way more. For your $200 budget, the Pixel Buds are a solid choice cuz they just... work. They're super stable and the ANC is decent for the train. gl!

Sooo agree with the above! LDAC is great, but if ur budget-conscious, u dont need to spend $200. I'm realy satisfied with these: - Soundcore Liberty 4 NC Noise Cancelling Earbuds: Best ANC for the money imo.
- Jabra Elite 4 True Wireless Earbuds: Great for office calls. Both have Fast Pair and I think they work realy well with the 7a. Saving that cash feels good lol. gl!

> I’m a little confused about whether I should stick strictly to the Google ecosystem Actually, the 7a handles LDAC perfectly, so high-res audio isnt overkill at all. You dont have to stay with Google! Ive found any Sony pair works amazing with Pixel hardware. Their noise canceling is basically wizardry and they support Fast Pair too. Honestly, just go with Sony and ur gonna be sooo happy with the audio, you know?

honestly, I once had cheap buds cut out while I was crossing a busy street and it was actually scary, so I totally get the safety concern!! I think you should try the Sony LinkBuds S Truly Wireless Noise Canceling Earbuds. They support LDAC and Bluetooth 5.2, which the 7a handles perfectly. They have Fast Pair so you dont have to menu-dive... just be careful with the fit so they dont fall out on the train!!
