sorry if this is a dumb question but I just got the pixel 9 pro xl and realized it didnt come with the plug thing in the box... so i was thinking i could just use my old charger from like 2020 but then i read online it might be too slow? my logic was a charger is just a charger right but people are talking about watts and pps and im totally lost. i need a fast one before my camping trip this friday and dont wanna spend more than like 30 bucks on amazon. would an anker one work or do i have to buy the official google one to not ruin the battery? its all very confusing to me...

In my experience, you really want to make sure whatever you grab supports PPS (Programmable Power Supply) or that Pixel wont actually hit those top speeds. Ive tested a bunch of these over the years, and if you want to stay under thirty bucks on Amazon, you have got two solid paths. First is the Samsung 45W USB-C Super Fast Charging Wall Charger. I know it says Samsung, but I use it for my Pixels all the time. Its built like a tank and handles the heat really well during long charging sessions. The only downside is its a bit larger than the newer tech. If you want something more pocket-friendly for your camping trip, check out the Spigen ArcStation Pro 45W GaN Wall Charger. It uses GaN tech so its super tiny but still packs the 45W punch. Just a heads up, make sure your cable is actually rated for 5A or high wattage... using a cheap old cord is the biggest bottleneck I see people run into.

To add to the point above: I totally agree! Definitely look for GaN technology specifically because it stays way cooler and is much safer for your battery long-term! You definitely dont need to pay that official Google tax for speed.

  • UGREEN 45W Nexode GaN Charger is fantastic and super compact for travel!
  • Spigen ArcStation Pro 45W GaN Wall Charger is very reliable and fits your budget. Both are awesome PPS options!!

Building on the earlier suggestion, I would focus on chargers with high-quality thermal regulation to ensure long-term battery health. Since you are taking this on a camping trip, you need something reliable that wont overheat in a tent or car.

  • Belkin BoostCharge Pro 45W Dual USB-C GaN Wall Charger
  • Baseus 65W GaN5 Fast Wall Charger Quick tip: make sure your cable is 5A rated or you wont see the maximum charging speeds. Most older cables are capped at 60W or 3A, which can sometimes limit the PPS handshake. Tbh, as long as you stick with GaN technology, you are getting the safest charging possible for your Pixel. It is definitely worth the small investment over using your 2020 brick.

I had the same scare before a road trip last year! My old 2020 brick was just crawling and I was so stressed. Honestly, you dont need the official Google one to keep your battery safe. I bought the Anker 313 Charger 45W PPS Super Fast Charging and it is absolutely fantastic! It works perfectly with PPS and is super tiny for camping. Youll love how fast it is!

Ive spent way too much time looking at power curves and PPS step-downs lately! Honestly, for a camping trip, you want reliability. I love the Spigen 45W GaN III ArcStation Pro because the thermal efficiency is fantastic and it doesnt throttle! If youre still worried about the battery, the Google 45W USB-C Power Adapter is literally designed for your phone and has the best voltage regulation. Both are amazing!
