Just got the Motorola Edge 50 Ultra but it didn't have a plug. I'm in London and have about £40 to spend. Sorry if this is a dumb question, I have no idea what the numbers on the bricks mean or which ones are safe. What specific fast charging brick should I buy?

@Reply #2 - good point! but tbh Id be careful just grabbing any random GaN brick. I lowkey worry about heat and safety with third-party stuff.

  • Anker 717 Charger 140W: Reliable build but might not hit that EXACT 125W speed. Just make sure you use the right cable... dont wanna risk your new battery.

Look, caught this thread and honestly yall are making it way too complicated. Listen, I spent 25 years in a shop and you learn real fast that the most expensive part isnt always the best fit for the job. You only got 40 quid? Dont waste it on that official 125W brick if it breaks the bank. Just grab the Ugreen Nexode 100W GaN 3-Port. Ngl it wont hit that TOP speed because of Motos software locks but itll charge plenty fast for daily use. I use one for my shop gear and it stays cool as a cucumber. Just make sure the cable is rated for 5A or youre just spinning your wheels... simple as that.

Search the forum, this comes up a lot. The Motorola Edge 50 Ultra uses a proprietary 125W charging protocol. Most third-party bricks will cap at lower speeds unless they have specific PPS (Programmable Power Supply) support.

  • This is the official brick. It is usually £45, but it is the only one that hits the full 125W speed.
  • Anker 737 Charger GaNPrime 120W
  • A reliable alternative that handles PPS well. It often hits the £40 mark during sales on Amazon.
  • Ugreen Nexode 100W GaN Wall Charger
  • This fits your £40 budget. It is compact and supports the necessary power delivery standards for fast charging. Ensure you use a 5A or 6A rated cable. A standard cable will throttle your charging to 60W regardless of the brick's capacity.

So funny you ask this — last summer I bought a similar device and struggled with slow charging for weeks. I eventually switched to a high-wattage Belkin GaN Charger. These units handle heat better and deliver consistent power compared to standard bricks. My takeaway is to just buy any GaN charger from a reputable brand rather than a cheap generic one.
