I just picked up the new Motorola Razr Plus (2024), and I’m absolutely loving the flip design, but it’s making my old car mount totally useless. Since the phone is so top-heavy when unfolded and quite thick when closed, I'm struggling to find a holder that feels secure. I’m specifically looking for something that won't interfere with the external screen features while it's folded, but can still grip it tightly when I have it open for GPS. Does anyone have experience with MagSafe adapters or specific vent mounts that work well with the Razr's unique dimensions? I really don't want it sliding out during a sharp turn! What are you guys using to keep your Razr Plus steady on the road?

Oh man, I totally feel u on this. Over the years, I've tried basically every mount under the sun, and the Razr Plus is a tricky beast because of that weight distribution. In my experience, most standard gravity mounts are a recipe for disaster—I literally had my phone fly out during a turn once and it was terrifying. Honestly, I'm super cautious about my screens, so I finally switched to the iOttie Easy One Touch 6 Dashboard & Windshield Mount and it's been a lifesaver. It has these adjustable side arms that grip the bottom half of the phone sooo tightly, so it doesn't matter if it's top-heavy when unfolded. Plus, if you want that MagSafe vibe, I've had great luck sticking a ESR MagSafe Ring 360 on the back of my case and using the Spigen MagFit MagSafe Car Mount. It stays rock solid even on bumpy roads, and you can still see the external screen just fine when it's closed. Just be careful with vent clips though, cuz the Razr's weight can really sag those plastic fins if you aren't careful! gl!!

Seconding the recommendation above. I actually use the LISEN Magnetic Phone Holder for Car with a MagSafe ring. It's basically $15, super secure, and wont block your outer screen. hope that helps!

Quick question—are you using a case with your Razr Plus, or are you rocking it naked? That honestly makes a HUGE difference for grip. I'm not 100% sure, but iirc some budget MagSafe stickers don't stick well to the vegan leather back.

Before I give advice, consider these factors for your budget:
* Adhesive vs. vent clips (vent is cheaper, but can sag)
* Magnetic vs. manual clamps

I mean, basically you wanna avoid the cheap stuff that'll drop your expensive phone lol.

Just sharing my experience: I went through this exact headache last year when I switched to a foldable. Honestly, it was a total nightmare at first because the weight distribution on the Razr Plus is sooo different from a standard slab phone.

Warning: Whatever you do, avoid those cheap generic vent clips that rely on gravity or flimsy side arms. Because the Razr is so top-heavy when it's open, I found that hitting even a small bump made the whole thing pivot and flop forward, which is super distracting when you're trying to follow GPS. Plus, if the arms aren't deep enough, the thickness of the phone when it's folded means it basically just pops out like a bar of soap. Not cool!!

I eventually experimented with a MagSafe conversion kit—basically just a sticky magnetic ring I put on my case. It was a game changer for the external screen since it doesn't block the edges, but you gotta be careful with the placement. If you put it too low, the phone is unbalanced when open; too high and it blocks the cameras. I spent like an hour measuring everything lol. I tried a few different magnetic heads and found that the ones with a ball-joint tensioner worked way better than the fixed ones. It’s been about six months and I’m actually really satisfied with how secure it feels now. It hasn't fallen once, even on some pretty rough backroads. gl with the hunt!

> I’m specifically looking for something that won't interfere with the external screen features while it's folded Jumping in here because I went through a whole ordeal with my Razr. I totally agree with the warnings about those cheap vent clips... they just dont hold up with the weird weight distribution of a flip phone. I actually ended up DIY-ing a solution because I didnt trust anything generic to hold my device safely. I bought a ProClip Center Mount which is specifically molded for my car's dashboard, so there are no suction cups to fail or plastic clips to snap. Then, I attached a Peak Design Mobile Wall Mount to it using some extra heavy-duty VHB tape I had lying around. It might seem like a lot of extra steps, but it keeps the phone low enough that it doesnt block my view, and the magnet is so strong that even when the Razr is unfolded and top-heavy, it doesnt budge. Just a heads up tho, if you go the magnet route like I did, make sure to get a Spigen MagFit Adhesive MagSafe Ring and place it perfectly. I actually measured mine with a ruler to ensure it was centered on the bottom half of the phone so the hinge wouldnt be stressed when I pull it off the mount. Better to be cautious than have your expensive phone flying into the footwell during a sharp merge, ya know?
