Hey everyone! I just recently upgraded to the Motorola Edge (2024) and I’m absolutely loving the phone so far, but I’ve hit a bit of a snag with my current car setup. My old universal mount is a side-clamping style, and it keeps pressing right against the volume rockers or the power button because of where they're positioned on the Edge. It’s super frustrating when I’m trying to use Google Maps and the phone starts trying to restart or change the volume!
I’m looking for something that fits the 6.6-inch frame securely but doesn't interfere with the buttons. Since the Edge (2024) supports 15W wireless charging, I’m also curious if anyone has found a reliable Qi-enabled mount that actually keeps up with the battery drain during navigation. I live in a pretty hot climate, so I'm trying to avoid those suction cups that melt off the dashboard; I’d prefer a sturdy vent clip or maybe a CD slot mount if those are still a thing.
Does anyone have specific recommendations for car mounts that play nice with the Motorola Edge (2024) layout? Are there any brands you’ve found that hold the phone steady without blocking the cameras or the charging port?
> basically, i found that the iOttie Auto... So +1 to that! Had ISSUES with others too. Maybe try CHGeek 15W Wireless Car Charger Mount. The adjustable feet let u position it so clamps dont hit buttons. DEFINATELY great for $30.
yo! i am literally so excited for u because that phone is amazing, but oh man, i totally get the safety concerns with those side buttons!! honestly, having your phone restart while driving is actually super dangerous because u lose your nav and get distracted trying to fix it... not good!! for your situation, i would suggest these things to keep u safe on the road: 1. check out the VICSEED 15W Wireless Car Charger Mount. the best part is it has these super adjustable 'feet' at the bottom. basically, u can slide them down so the side clamps grip the phone way below the power and volume buttons. it is a total lifesaver for the motorola edge layout! plus, it has a really sturdy vent clip that wont just pop off. 2. if u want to avoid clamps entirely for safety, maybe try the ESR Magnetic Wireless Car Charger (HaloLock) paired with an ESR Universal MagSafe Ring Sticker. i know the motorola+doesnt+have+magnets&linkCode=osi&------123456890?5422-20" target="_blank" rel="nofollow sponsored">motorola doesnt have magnets built-in, but sticking the ring on your case makes it *so* much more secure than any clamp imo. no buttons being pressed ever!! 3. since u live in a hot place, definitely look for a mount with a 'support hook' for the vent. i mean, u dont want the weight of the phone snapping your vent blades or falling off when u hit a bump. safety first!! idk but i really think the adjustable feet are your best bet. stay safe out there! peace 👍
Tbh if youre worried about the heat and those side buttons, skip the cheap suction stuff and go for a more modular DIY setup. I basically stopped using universal mounts years ago because they always fail eventually. Some people pay for professional dash modifications but you can do a pro-level job yourself with a ProClip Center Mount base. Its customized for your specific car model so it clips into the dash seams. No sticky mess and it wont fall off in the heat!!! For the actual phone holder, I suggest the Baseus 15W Electric Car Mount. The arms on this one are positioned slightly differently than the older style clamps, so they usually clear the volume rockers on the Edge. Plus, you can adjust the bottom feet to make sure the Qi coils align perfectly for that 15W speed. Its way better than just hoping a random mount fits. Anyway, if you dont want to go the dashboard route, a Lamicall CD Slot Mount is a solid alternative. You can actually unscrew the ball joint and swap in a high-quality charging head from another brand if you want to customize the setup.
Commenting to find later
sooo i totally feel your pain with the buttons... honestly its literally the worst when your phone just shuts off mid-navigation. im kinda new to all these techy things but i was super worried about my phone falling or getting damaged while driving. basically, i found that the iOttie Auto Sense Qi Wireless Car Charger Vent Mount works really well for me. its got these motorized arms that grip it, and they seem to sit just low enough that they dont mess with the rockers on the side of the Edge. plus, it comes with a pretty sturdy vent clip which feels way safer than those suction cups that melt in the heat—i was always scared one would fall and distract me! its been really reliable and actually keeps the battery charged even with Google Maps running. honestly no complaints so far. just make sure your vent can handle the weight cuz some are kinda flimsy, you know? good luck!
Seconding that! Unfortunately I’ve had issues with mounts melting before... so annoying. Try the Joyroom 15W Wireless Car Charger Mount—it’s budget friendly and definately won’t hit those buttons.
