Hey everyone! I just pre-ordered the new Motorola Razr Plus (2025) and I am absolutely pumped to start using that massive external display. However, I’m also a bit terrified of dropping it. Foldables are such a huge investment, and the hinge feels like a weak point that definitely needs some extra love.
I’ve been browsing Amazon and a few tech sites, but I’m seeing a lot of generic-looking shells that don’t seem to offer much real protection. I’m specifically looking for a case that provides solid hinge coverage without adding too much bulk to the pocket. It’s also really important to me that the case doesn't interfere with the edge-to-edge swiping on the outer screen, as I’ve heard some thicker frames can make navigation a total pain.
I’m willing to spend around $40-$60 for something high-quality. Has anyone had luck with brands like Spigen or Poetic for this specific model yet? Or should I just stick with the official Motorola ones? I’d love to hear your recommendations for a case that strikes that perfect balance between being slim and actually drop-proof. What are you guys using to keep your Razr safe?

Quick question - before I give advice, are you mostly worried about drop impact on pavement, or is it more about keeping dust and pocket lint out of that hinge mechanism?? honestly I’ve had some pretty bad luck with "slim" cases in the past... i mean, I once used a basic shell on my last foldable and unfortunately, the first time it hit the kitchen tile, the hinge just... - Official: Slim but zero hinge protection.
- Spigen: Rugged but adds massive bulk.
- Poetic: Best balance; the hinge doesnt crowd the screen.
Verdict: It depends on ur needs, but Poetic works best for gestures due to tighter technical tolerances. It basically nails the specs. ✌️

1. Hinges are vulnerable spots on foldables.
2. Coverage is vital to prevent expensive damage.
3. i suggest checking Caseology; theyre way cheaper than official ones and honestly really solid!

- I totally get the anxiety! I have been doing some serious research on how to safeguard these foldables because repair costs are absolutely insane! If you want maximum security, you really have to look at a multi-layered approach to protection.

It is definitely worth the extra effort for peace of mind if you are worried about the hinge mechanics...
