Hey everyone! I just recently picked up the new Motorola Edge 60 Pro, and while I absolutely love the display and the overall feel of the phone, I have run into a bit of a snag with my car setup. My old universal mount just isn't cutting it anymore because this phone feels a bit taller and more slender than my previous one.
I am specifically looking for something that won't interfere with the curved edges of the screen or accidentally squeeze the power and volume buttons, which seem to be right where most cradle arms want to grip. I usually keep a slim TPU case on it, so the mount needs to be able to accommodate that extra millimeter or two. Also, since I have vertical air vents in my car, I am a bit hesitant about vent clips unless they are really sturdy. I have looked at some magnetic options, but I really do not want to hide the phone's design behind a big metal plate if I can help it.
I use my phone for navigation almost every day for work, so I need something that stays stable even on bumpy backroads. Has anyone found a specific mount—whether it is dashboard, windshield, or a really solid vent mount—that holds the Motorola Edge 60 Pro securely without blocking the ports or pressing the side buttons?
I actually had a wierd issue once with a tall phone where the mount kept triggering the power button and restarting the thing while I was using GPS lol. Super annoying and honestly a bit dangerous. So basically the consensus is that those side buttons are a real pain with standard clamps, and vertical vents are tricky... TL;DR from this thread: you need something with adjustable feet or a hook style grip. Since your looking for value, I would check out:
> I am specifically looking for something that won't interfere with the curved edges of the screen or accidentally squeeze the power and volume buttons For your situation, I once had my phone slide under the brake pedal while cornering... terrifying. I recommend the Vicseed Car Phone Holder for Vertical Vents. It uses a mechanical metal hook that locks onto vertical slats, and the bottom feet are adjustable so the arms wont squeeze ur side buttons. Safety first when ur using GPS daily!! It stays rock solid even on bumps.
> basically the consensus is that those side buttons are a real pain with standard clamps To add to the point above: it is really all about where the side arms sit on the frame. If the mount is too shallow, it just crushes everything. Just seeing this thread now and wanted to weigh in because I have been super satisfied with my setup for a while. I have used a few different brands but honestly nothing compares to the ProClip Center Mount 855600 combined with the ProClip Adjustable Phone Holder 246979 for Small to Medium Cases. Most people overlook them because you have to buy the base and the holder separately, but thats exactly why it works so well. While stuff like the iOttie mounts are okay, they usually rely on a single central spring that often hits the buttons on tall phones like the Motorola Edge 60 Pro. The ProClip holder is adjustable so you can literally set the width once to fit your TPU case and then just slide the phone in from the top. Since it grips the lower half of the phone, those volume and power buttons stay totally clear. Plus, it clips into the dash seams rather than the vents, so your vertical slats wont get snapped or blocked. It is way more stable than any vent clip I have ever tried... basically zero vibration even when the road gets rough. Let me know if you need help figuring out which base fits your specific car model tho.
So, quick question - is ur dashboard actually flat or textured? I think a dashboard mount might be a better alternative to vertical vents, but honestly not sure if itll stay stable.
> I am specifically looking for something that won't interfere with the curved edges of the screen or accidentally squeeze the power and volume buttons ugh i feel u, honestly. I had such a bad experience with cheap mounts messing with the clamping force and hitting those buttons. Its actually SO annoying cuz most brands dont account for that slender aspect ratio. I switched to a gravity-linkage dashboard mount for about twenty bucks. It uses the weight to lock the phone, so it doesnt put pressure on ur side rails or the screen... way better for vertical vents too
