Oh man, I totally feel u on this. Picking a case for the Open is seriously stressful cuz of that hinge! I've tried a few things, but honestly, I'm super happy with the OnePlus+Open&linkCode=osi&------123456890?5422-20" target="_blank" rel="nofollow sponsored">Nillkin Frosted Shield Prop Case for OnePlus Open.

It basically nails the balance I was looking for. Here's why I like it:
- The camera cover actually doubles as a kickstand, which is lowkey genius.
- It has hinge protection that doesn't feel like a massive brick in ur pocket.
- The front frame actually stays put!

I also messed around with the OPPO+Find+N3+Protective+Set&linkCode=osi&------123456890?5422-20" target="_blank" rel="nofollow sponsored">OPPO Find N3 Protective Set (since it's the same phone hardware), and that one is great if u want something thinner, but it offers way less drop protection imo.
