so I got this OP12 and the Hasselblad stuff is cool but finding accessories is a nightmare compared to iPhone users. Im stuck between the Freewell Sherpa setup and just getting a basic Ulanzi universal filter clip. My logic was Freewell is more pro but its almost 110 bucks with shipping which is over my budget and I need it before I head to Oregon next Thursday. Then I look at the Ulanzi and think maybe itll just slide around and ruin my shots? Im so annoyed that OnePlus doesnt have more dedicated stuff. Which one stays on better during a hike? Or should I just give up on filters and get a cheap tripod instead?

Regarding what #3 said about cages... I'm gonna have to respectfully disagree for this specific trip. Cages are super solid, yeah, but they're also heavy and can be a total nightmare to balance if you aren't used to them. When you're hiking in Oregon, every ounce counts, and fumbling with a bulky cage while trying to catch the light at a waterfall is just gonna stress you out. If you're worried about the clip sliding around but find Freewell too pricey, here's a more reliable middle ground:

  • Look at the Kase IVY Magnetic Lens Filter Kit. The clamp is much sturdier than the basic Ulanzi ones and once the base is on, swapping filters is instant. No screwing things in while your hands are cold.
  • Definitely don't skip the tripod. If you want something that won't fail you, the Manfrotto PIXI Mini Tripod MTPIXI-B is a tank. It's small enough to shove in a pocket but won't tip over like the cheap plastic ones. The real trick with the <a href=" https://www.ebay.com/sch/i.html?_nkw= OnePlus+12+is+the+size+of+th&_sacat=0&_from=R40&_trksid=p4624852.m570.l1311&mkcid=1&mkrid=711-53200-19255-0&siteid=0&campid=5337998953&customid=22&toolid=10001&mkevt=1" target="_blank" rel="nofollow sponsored">OnePlus 12 is the size of that camera puck. A lot of clips sit crooked because of it. The magnetic systems usually have a wider base that sits flatter against the glass, which solves that sliding issue you're worried about. Honestly, just get it ordered today so you can test it before Thursday. You'll definitely want that CPL filter for the glare on the Columbia River!

I've spent way too much time testing optics on the OnePlus 12 and I totally get the frustration with the lack of dedicated cases. If you're heading to Oregon you definitely need some glass to handle the glare and those waterfall shots. Honestly, the Freewell is overpriced for what it is. I've been using a mix of Ulanzi and K&F and I'm very satisfied with how it performs.

  • The Ulanzi Universal Phone Filter Clip 52mm is actually quite sturdy. It uses a screw-down locking mechanism rather than a cheap spring, so it won't slide around on the OP12 large circular camera bump.
  • Pair that clip with a K&F Concept 52mm Nano-X Series Variable ND Filter. The 52mm size is perfect because it covers all the sensors without any vignetting.
  • For hiking, the clip stays put as long as you tighten it properly. The rubber pads have enough grip for a bumpy trail.
  • If you're worried about long exposures, the Ulanzi MT-44 Extendable Vlog Tripod is a solid addition. It's light enough for a pack but stable enough for a 2-second shutter. The Ulanzi clip is totally fine for Oregon. I've taken mine on several 5-mile trails and it never budged. You'll get much better results with a decent VND filter than just relying on the Hasselblad processing alone... especially since the OP12 tends to blow out highlights in high-contrast outdoor settings.

To add to the point above: > Then I look at the Ulanzi and think maybe itll just slide around and ruin my shots? I totally feel that! I actually lost a lens in a creek once because a spring-clip slipped off—it was heartbreaking. For Oregon, you definitely need security! I swear by the Neewer 67mm Phone Filter Clip with Screw Tightening since it uses a manual screw. It stays put like a rock and works amazing for those waterfall shots tho!

Like someone mentioned, clips slip. In my experience, the SmallRig Universal Mobile Phone Cage CPU2391 offers much better structural rigidity for under 40 bucks. TL;DR: A cage beats a clip.
