Just picked up the new OnePlus Nord 4 and I’m worried about scratches! I need something that won't mess with the in-display fingerprint sensor and fits well with a case. Are there any tempered glass brands you guys swear by, or is a film better? What’s the best option for clarity and protection?

Saw this earlier but just now responding... i basically went through this last week testing different materials on my Nord 4. • OnePlus+Nord+4&linkCode=osi&------123456890?5422-20" target="_blank" rel="nofollow sponsored">Ibywind Tempered Glass Screen Protector for OnePlus Nord 4: Great 9H hardness but i noticed it slightly slows the optical sensor. Be careful with thickness!

Seconding the recommendation above! Honestly, after years of swapping protectors on OnePlus+phones&linkCode=osi&------123456890?5422-20" target="_blank" rel="nofollow sponsored">OnePlus phones, I've learned that optical sensors are super picky about light refraction. If the glass is too thick, it highkey ruins the experience. I'm actually really satisfied with how some of the cheaper kits are performing lately though. +1 to what was said about the sensor speed. Here are my quick tips for keeping costs down: - Try the OnePlus+Nord+4&linkCode=osi&------123456890?5422-20" target="_blank" rel="nofollow sponsored">LK 3-Pack TPU Film Screen Protector for OnePlus Nord 4 if you want that naked screen feel without the glass bulk; it's basically invisible.
- Always re-scan your thumb twice in the settings after applying any protector—it actually forces the sensor to learn the new 'look' of your print through the material. I've found that TPU film is usually better for budget builds because it's thinner and handles the case fitment way better than cheap tempered glass anyway. Plus, you get like three in a pack for the price of one 'premium' brand. hope that helps! 👍

sooo congrats on the Nord 4! honestly i get the anxiety cuz i literally just went through this with mine. For your situation, i've got a few thoughts, even though my recent experience was kinda disappointing... Here's what I recommend:
- Basically, you can't go wrong if you go with Spigen. Their stuff usually fits like a glove with cases, though I had issues with the adhesive on my last one not being as good as expected. It left these weird bubbles that wouldn't go away.
- Honestly, just get any tempered glass from Ibywind if you're on a budget. They usually include an alignment kit which helps, but unfortunately, I found the fingerprint sensor response a bit laggy on their thicker options. It literally took two tries to unlock every time.
- If you want maximum clarity, look at dbrand. Their skins and protectors are highkey precise, but idk if they offer the same drop protection as a thick slab of glass... definately something to think about. I'm still kinda a beginner when it comes to analyzing the technical side of screen hardness levels and light transmission percentages, but i've noticed that even the "premium" brands sometimes struggle with the in-display sensor. It's reallyyy frustrating when you spend money and it still feels off. But yeah, definitely stick to those bigger brands to be safe. Also, dont forget to re-register your fingerprints AFTER you put the protector on... it helps a bit! so basically yeah, hope that helps. peace

In my experience, screen safety is highkey the #1 priority. Protectors basically fall into two camps: film for scratches or glass for impact. Glass is way more reliable for safety because it absorbs the hit. My current glass setup works great even with the sensor, you just gotta re-register your prints after putting it on. Basically, if you want real protection for that Nord 4, glass is the way to go!! peace
