I just pre-ordered the OnePlus 13 and I am beyond excited to get my hands on it! However, I am a bit worried about how slippery the glass back might be. I really want to find a case that offers solid drop protection without turning the phone into a bulky brick.

I am specifically looking for something with a bit of extra grip and maybe some raised edges to protect that massive camera array. Does anyone know of cases that offer magnetic ring compatibility or perhaps a rugged translucent option? I have been looking at the official sandstone case, but I am not sure if it is enough for accidental drops.

What are the best protective cases you have found so far that strike a good balance between safety and style?

oh man, i feel u on the slipperiness! that glass back is basically a disaster waiting to happen lol. since you wanna save some cash but still keep that massive camera safe, i would suggest looking at these budget-friendly ones i've been looking at:

  • OnePlus+13&linkCode=osi&------123456890?5422-20" target="_blank" rel="nofollow sponsored">Ringke Fusion Magnetic Matte Case for OnePlus 13 - i think this is the best middle ground. it's usually like 15 to 18 bucks and has that translucent look with a mag ring. plus the grip is actually decent for the price.
  • OnePlus+13&linkCode=osi&------123456890?5422-20" target="_blank" rel="nofollow sponsored">Poetic Guardian Case for OnePlus 13 - highkey better if you're clumsy. it's under 20 dollars usually and has massive raised edges for the lens. it's kinda bulky tho so be careful if you have small pockets.
  • OnePlus+13+Sandstone+Bumper+Case&linkCode=osi&------123456890?5422-20" target="_blank" rel="nofollow sponsored">Official OnePlus 13 Sandstone Bumper Case - honestly it's okay for 25 bucks and the texture is iconic, but make sure to realize it might not be enough for a hard drop on concrete. so basically, the ringke is probably your best bet for style and cost, but the poetic is safer if ur really worried. anyway, hope that helps... peace

Seconding the recommendation above! Had a moment to think about this more and honestly, that OnePlus+13&linkCode=osi&------123456890?5422-20" target="_blank" rel="nofollow sponsored">Ringke Fusion Magnetic Matte Case for OnePlus 13 is a solid budget pick, but i am kinda worried about the drop protection. I had issues with a thin case before and it unfortunately didnt protect the corners when it fell... not as good as expected tbh. I was reading about technical specs and found these budget alternatives:

  • OnePlus+13&linkCode=osi&------123456890?5422-20" target="_blank" rel="nofollow sponsored">Spigen Liquid Air Case for OnePlus 13 - usually under $16, it uses air cushion technology for the corners.
  • OnePlus+13&linkCode=osi&------123456890?5422-20" target="_blank" rel="nofollow sponsored">Caseology Athlex for OnePlus 13 - around $15, has a dual-layer TPU and polycarbonate design for impact resistance.
  • OnePlus+13&linkCode=osi&------123456890?5422-20" target="_blank" rel="nofollow sponsored">TUDIA DualShield Grip Case for OnePlus 13 - usually $18, really beefy raised edges for the camera. Just be careful because some budget magnetic rings are pretty weak and might not handle the weight well... anyway gl!

I have been through this cycle so many times since the early days of OnePlus. I used to spend hours comparing TPU density and drop ratings, thinking I was being smart, but in my experience, the real-world performance is usually totally different from what the marketing says. I once bought a super expensive 'bulletproof' case for my old 7 Pro and the glass back still shattered from a tiny fall onto carpet... total nightmare. Honestly, instead of waiting for people here to list every single brand, you should just do what I did last night:

  • search for 'OnePlus 13 durability and case roundup' on YouTube
  • check the r/OnePlus13 subreddit for the pinned case megathread
  • look at the tech reviewers who actually drop the phones for views There is this one guy who does a 'best of' video every year for these phones and he just posted one for the 13 yesterday. Just search it and it is basically the first result. Its way better to see them in high res than reading us talk about it lol.

So basically the consensus is that while budget options like those mentioned earlier are tempting, there is a big worry about whether they actually keep the phone safe from a nasty drop... I really agree with the second reply about thin cases being a bit scary. Honestly, I learned the hard way with my last phone and I totally get the anxiety!! I dropped it from just table height in a slim case and the screen shattered anyway. It was such a bummer and cost a fortune to fix so I am definitely a safety-first person now. It is just not worth saving twenty bucks on a case if it means risking the whole device. TL;DR from this thread:

  • People want magnetic rings but worry about protection levels.
  • Budget picks are out there but might not survive a real fall.
  • Everyone is highkey stressed about protecting that massive camera array. Since I am pretty new to this but super satisfied with my current rugged setup, I would say go for something with beefy corners. It might make the phone a bit bigger but it is soooo worth it for the peace of mind. Also, look for something with a textured side grip because ur definitely gonna need that extra friction with the glass back. I mean, nobody wants to see their brand new OnePlus+13+sliding+off+a+des&linkCode=osi&------123456890?5422-20" target="_blank" rel="nofollow sponsored">OnePlus 13 sliding off a desk, right??
  • Look for thick rubber bumpers.
  • Ensure the camera lip is high enough.
  • Prioritize grip over style. Anyway, I hope you find something that works well and keeps your new tech safe. Cheers!!

Re: "oh man, i feel u on the slipperiness!..."

  • I get the worry about the glass, but sometimes the most technical specs dont save you from the most random accidents. Kinda reminds me of when my brother in law got a flagship and spent weeks researching the coefficient of friction and TPU density for his setup. He was so proud of this rugged case he found that supposedly used aerospace-grade polymers with a specific lattice structure for shock absorption. He spent an entire family dinner explaining the math behind the G-force protection and how the brand compared to others in terms of material fatigue. Then, right as he was finishing his lecture, he tripped over a stray dog and dropped a whole plate of messy ribs right onto the device. The case was pristine, totally untouched, but the rib sauce got into every single seam and port. The phone was basically totaled by BBQ sauce while the indestructible case looked brand new. It was such a mess dealing with the warranty after that... just a complete disaster. Its funny how you can plan for a ten foot drop onto concrete but not for a side of spicy garlic marinade.
