Hey everyone, I just upgraded to the OnePlus Nord 5 and I am loving the phone so far, but I realized I really need a spare charger for my office. I want to make sure I get something that actually supports the full fast charging speeds instead of just standard slow charging.
I have a few specific questions about what works best:
- Does it have to be the official SuperVOOC 80W brick to get those top speeds?
- Are there reliable third-party brands that support their proprietary tech?
- Do I need a specific high-amperage cable to make it work?
I am a bit worried about damaging the battery with a cheap knockoff. What are the top fast chargers you guys are using for your Nord 5?

tbh if you want the absolute max 80W speed without buying the OnePlus+branded+stuff&linkCode=osi&------123456890?5422-20" target="_blank" rel="nofollow sponsored">OnePlus branded stuff, you should look at sister brands. The Realme 80W SuperDart Charge Adapter is basically the same tech under a different name and usually costs a bit less. It hits those full speeds perfectly because they all share the same proprietary charging protocol. Another route is going for a high-end GaN charger like the UGREEN Nexode 100W USB C Charger. The downside here is that it wont actually hit 80W on your Nord 5. It will likely cap at 18W or 27W because OnePlus+limits+third-party+P&linkCode=osi&------123456890?5422-20" target="_blank" rel="nofollow sponsored">OnePlus limits third-party Power Delivery speeds. Its a trade-off between having one charger for everything or getting that insane 30-minute full charge. Also, dont cheap out on the cord. You need a high-amperage cable, like the Baseus 100W Fast Charging USB C Cable, to actually carry that much power. A standard cable will just bottle-neck the whole process.

Honestly, stick with the official gear. If you want a backup, the OPPO+80W+SuperVOOC+Flash+Charge+Adapter&linkCode=osi&------123456890?5422-20" target="_blank" rel="nofollow sponsored">OPPO 80W SuperVOOC Flash Charge Adapter is basically identical and works perfectly. Just remember, you definitely need the OnePlus+Type-C+to+Type-C+Cable+100cm&linkCode=osi&------123456890?5422-20" target="_blank" rel="nofollow sponsored">OnePlus Type-C to Type-C Cable 100cm or it wont hit those top speeds. Generic cables just cant handle the high amperage.
