I just picked up the new OnePlus Nord 4 and I'm loving the metal design! However, I'm struggling to decide on the right earbuds to pair with it. I'm looking for something with seamless fast pairing and great ANC for my daily commute. Should I stick with the OnePlus Buds 3 for the ecosystem benefits, or is it worth looking at other brands? What’s your experience?

In my experience, sticking with the brand is basically a no-brainer if you're on a budget but want that "premium" feel. I've been using the OnePlus+Buds+3&linkCode=osi&------123456890?5422-20" target="_blank" rel="nofollow sponsored">OnePlus Buds 3 with my Nord for a few weeks now and honestly, the value is insane!! You get that seamless fast pairing where the pop-up just appears instantly—it's sooo much better than digging through Bluetooth settings every time.

For your commute, the ANC is actually reallyyy solid for the price. It blocks out that low engine hum perfectly. If you wanted to spend way more, you could look at the Sony WF-1000XM5, but honestly? You lose the integrated oxygen-level settings and the low-latency mode that just works natively with OnePlus. Plus, the OnePlus+Buds+3&linkCode=osi&------123456890?5422-20" target="_blank" rel="nofollow sponsored">OnePlus Buds 3 are half the price and look great next to the metal Nord 4. Save your cash and stay in the ecosystem, it's totally worth it! 👍

Just sharing my experience: I actually went through this when I got my last phone. I prioritized safety and battery reliability over everything else cuz I hate it when tech fails during a commute. I ended up with the OnePlus+Buds+3&linkCode=osi&------123456890?5422-20" target="_blank" rel="nofollow sponsored">OnePlus Buds 3 and the fast pairing is honestly sooo seamless. I was worried about the ANC not being enough, but it's actually pretty solid for blocking out engine noise. Make sure to check the fit tho, cuz a good seal is basically the only way to keep your hearing safe in loud areas! gl

well i think staying with the same brand is basically better cuz of fast pairing... iirc the anc specs are like 49db? honestly it just works better with the phone settings, i guess...

Basically everyone here is saying the same thing—staying in the ecosystem is way easier for the fast pairing and the ANC is pretty solid for the price. I totally agree that the fit is the most important part like the last person mentioned! Adding a few "DIY" things I've been experimenting with as a beginner to help you out:
- You can basically do your own "pro" tuning by using the Golden Sound test in the settings to map your ear canal—it's super cool and makes it feel way more personal
- I'm actually looking into getting some third-party memory foam tips because I heard they block even more noise than the stock ones for a DIY isolation boost
- You can also customize all the touch gestures yourself so you don't even have to touch your phone during the commute Does anyone know if using different tips makes them not fit in the case anymore? I'm sorta worried about that but I really wanna try it to get that perfect seal!

Before I give advice, I gotta ask—what’s ur main priority for the ANC? Like, are you trying to block out high-pitched screeching on a train or just low engine hums on a bus?

Warning though, if you stray from the brand's ecosystem, you might run into some annoying compatibility hurdles. I've been there, and honestly, losing out on LHDC support or having to download a separate app just to check battery levels is a total vibe killer. Plus, non-native buds sometimes have weird latency issues with OxygenOS during gaming. I mean, the Nord 4 is a beast, so you dont wanna bottleneck it with gear that wont sync right... but yeah, depends on if ur a technical purist or just want something that sounds decent lol. Let me know ur specific audio needs!

man, i feel you so much on this struggle. it is honestly the worst when you spend good money and the experience just feels... off. i have spent literally hours trying to DIY my own perfect setup because even the best buds out there always seem to have some annoying quirk that ruins the vibe during a long commute. it is basically a never-ending battle with fit and software glitches, ngl. before you commit to anything, i would suggest really thinking about these couple things:

  • are you mostly trying to drown out that deep, low-end engine hum on a bus, or is it more about blocking out high-pitched screeching and people talking?
  • how much are you willing to mess around with third-party accessories like specialized memory foam tips to actually get the seal right? make sure to be careful because even if the pairing is fast, the actual sound isolation might let you down if the hardware does not fit your ears perfectly...
