I just got this new OnePlus 12R because my old phone was basically dying every two hours and I heard this one has a crazy fast battery and charges in like minutes. But honestly I have no idea how these chargers work anymore. It came with a cable but I think I might have messed up and bought a version that didnt have the wall plug or maybe I just lost it in the packaging when I was unboxing it... I feel so stupid. Anyway I tried using my old iPhone brick and it says it is gonna take like three hours to charge which seems totally wrong since the ads said it was way faster than that. I keep seeing things online about SuperVOOC and PD charging and Watts and it is all just a bunch of confusing numbers to me. Im really worried about buying the wrong thing and frying the battery or something because I dont know if I need the official OnePlus brand one or if I can just get something from like Best Buy or Amazon. Im going on a trip to San Diego next week so I really need to find something fast so I am not stuck in the hotel room waiting for my phone to charge all day. My budget is maybe 40 or 50 dollars if that helps. Which fast chargers are actually the best for this specific phone?

Just catching up on this. Like someone mentioned, SuperVOOC is the gold standard here, but I disagree that you are strictly limited to that. I have been very satisfied using a powerful PPS-enabled charger for my 12R when I am on the road. It wont hit the full 80W, but it is plenty fast for a hotel room stay. Here are your best bets for that San Diego trip:

  • OnePlus+SuperVOOC+80W+Power+Adapter&linkCode=osi&------123456890?5422-20" target="_blank" rel="nofollow sponsored">OnePlus SuperVOOC 80W Power Adapter this is the official one and hits top speeds.
  • Anker 735 Charger GaNPrime 65W really solid alternative that handles multiple devices.
  • OnePlus+SUPERVOOC+Type-C+to+Type-C+Cable&linkCode=osi&------123456890?5422-20" target="_blank" rel="nofollow sponsored">OnePlus SUPERVOOC Type-C to Type-C Cable dont skip on the official cable or it throttles. Check your box again tho, sometimes the brick is tucked under a flap in the bottom. If you want the minutes charge time, stick with the official 80W block. It works well and I have had zero issues with mine. Grab the official one if you can find it in time, otherwise that Anker is fine for travel.

Been thinking about your trip and safety is key. You dont want a cheap knockoff messing with your 12R...

  • OnePlus+SuperVOOC+100W+Dual+Port+Power+Adapter&linkCode=osi&------123456890?5422-20" target="_blank" rel="nofollow sponsored">OnePlus SuperVOOC 100W Dual Port Power Adapter: Solid choice for speed. It has two ports which is handy, and since its official, it works perfectly without overheating.
  • Anker 715 Charger Nano II 65W: Decent option if you want something tiny. It wont hit the 80W max but the safety features are great for peace of mind.

TLDR: You need SuperVOOC 80W specs or itll stay slow. Standard PD bricks just dont have the right communication protocol. Make sure to check your cable specs too because generic ones can overheat. I might want to consider your travel needs tho... are you looking for a single port plug or something that handles a laptop too? And do you still have that original red cable?

I agree that SuperVOOC is essential. Im satisfied with OnePlus+SuperVOOC+80W+Power+Adapter&linkCode=osi&------123456890?5422-20" target="_blank" rel="nofollow sponsored">OnePlus SuperVOOC 80W Power Adapter for reliability, but OPPO+SuperVOOC+80W+Power+Adapter&linkCode=osi&------123456890?5422-20" target="_blank" rel="nofollow sponsored">OPPO SuperVOOC 80W Power Adapter is more cost-effective for the same 80W charging speed.
