I just bought a new OnePlus Nord 4 and I'm super confused because it didnt come with a wall plug in the box. I thought they all came with one but I guess not anymore. I tried using my old Samsung charger but it takes forever to charge and the phone says its going to take like 3 hours which is crazy. Im looking for something faster but I dont want to break the battery or buy the wrong thing because there are so many options on Amazon like 65w and 80w and I dont know if they are safe. My budget is about 30 quid since I spent a lot on the phone already. Sorry if this is a really basic thing to ask but do I have to buy the official one or are there cheaper ones that work the same?
Yo, congrats on the Nord 4! It is such an amazing phone, seriously, you are gonna love the speed once you get the right brick. I had the exact same issue when I got mine and was so annoyed! OnePlus uses this special tech called SUPERVOOC, so basically your old Samsung charger is only gonna trickle charge it because it does not speak the same language as the phone. Most standard chargers just wont work for fast charging here. To get those crazy fast speeds, you really need a charger that supports that specific protocol. I tried a few generic ones from Amazon and they were total rubbish, honestly. If you want to stay safe and fast, stick to the official stuff or sister brands. Here is what you should look for to get that 0 to 100 percent in like 30 mins:
Like someone mentioned, these proprietary speeds are a real pain. I wasted way too much money on cheap bricks over the years that promised fast charging but barely hit 10W. Turns out the cable is just as important as the plug.
omg you guys are so right about the cables, they literally make or break the whole thing!! i totally agree with what everyone said about the proprietary tech being a total headache to deal with. honestly tho, i found the most amazing breakdown on youtube when i was looking for my own setup. just search nord 4 charging speed test or something similar and its like one of the first few videos that pops up. there is this one creator who tests all the different bricks with a power meter to see which ones actually hit those crazy speeds without overheating or being unsafe. its way better than just guessing and potentially ruining your battery life right after buying it! the nord 4 is such a fantastic phone so you definitely dont want to mess it up with a dodgy plug... definitely check reddit too because there are some massive threads about this exact thing.
Good to know!
Late to the party but this whole thread is 💯. Glad I found it.
Quick reply while I'm on my break. In my experience, you don't actually need the official brick if you understand how power delivery works, though you wont get the absolute max 100W speeds. If you want to stay under that 30 quid limit, these are reliable alternatives I've used:
