Hey everyone! I just recently made the switch to the OnePlus Nord 4, and while I am absolutely loving the sleek metal design and how snappy OxygenOS feels, I’ve run into a bit of a dilemma regarding the charging situation. In my region, the phone didn't come with a power brick in the box, and I'm currently stuck using an old 18W charger from my previous device.
Needless to say, charging that massive 5,500mAh battery with an underpowered brick is a total drag. It feels like it takes ages to get a decent percentage, which is frustrating because I know this phone is a beast when it comes to charging speeds. I've read that the Nord 4 supports up to 100W SuperVOOC fast charging, which is supposed to get you from 1% to 100% in something like 30 minutes, but I'm struggling to figure out which brick actually delivers those results reliably.
I’ve been looking at the official OnePlus 100W Dual Port adapter, but it’s a bit on the expensive side. I also have a high-quality 65W GaN charger from Anker that I use for my laptop, but when I plug my Nord 4 into it, it doesn't seem to trigger the 'Ultra Fast Charging' animation—it just says 'Charging' or 'Fast Charging' at much lower speeds. I’m a bit confused about whether I *must* use a proprietary SuperVOOC brick to get the top speeds, or if there are any third-party PD (Power Delivery) chargers that play nice with OnePlus’s tech.
Does anyone have experience with this? I really need something that can top me up quickly before I head out for work in the morning. Is it worth biting the bullet and buying the official OnePlus brick, or is there a specific third-party brand that actually hits those 80W or 100W speeds on the Nord 4? I'd love to hear what you all are using to juice up your devices!
yo i feel u, i was in the exact same boat last month!! i tried using my fancy laptop charger and it was like... why is this so slow?? i guess oneplus is just super picky? i ended up comparing the official OnePlus+SuperVOOC+100W+Dual+Port+Power+Adapter&linkCode=osi&------123456890?5422-20" target="_blank" rel="nofollow sponsored">OnePlus SuperVOOC 100W Dual Port Power Adapter and the OPPO+SuperVOOC+80W+Power+Adapter&linkCode=osi&------123456890?5422-20" target="_blank" rel="nofollow sponsored">OPPO SuperVOOC 80W Power Adapter. the 100w one is honestly the best... it actually gets those crazy speeds you see in the ads. the 80w oppo brick is a decent option too if you wanna save money, i think it still charges pretty fast. third-party stuff like anker basically wont trigger the 'ultra' animation because they use PD tech instead of SuperVOOC. TL;DR: basically, you gotta bite the bullet and get the OnePlus+SuperVOOC+100W+Dual+Port+Power+Adapter&linkCode=osi&------123456890?5422-20" target="_blank" rel="nofollow sponsored">OnePlus SuperVOOC 100W Dual Port Power Adapter. third party bricks just dont hit the same speeds. gl!
Sooo i totally get the struggle cuz that 18W charger sounds like a nightmare lol. If ur looking to save some cash but still want that 'Ultra Fast Charging' pop-up, you basically HAVE to stay within the BBK family (OnePlus/Oppo/Realme). Most standard chargers just wont trigger the full speeds because OnePlus+uses+a+proprietary+p&linkCode=osi&------123456890?5422-20" target="_blank" rel="nofollow sponsored">OnePlus uses a proprietary protocol... it's kinda annoying but it keeps the heat in the brick and not the phone! Heres how I compare the budget options:
- OnePlus+80W+SuperVOOC+GaN+Charger&linkCode=osi&------123456890?5422-20" target="_blank" rel="nofollow sponsored">OnePlus 80W SuperVOOC GaN Charger: This is the official single-port version. It's cheaper than the 100W dual-port one mentioned earlier and still hits amazing speeds.
- OPPO+80W+SuperVOOC+Flash+Charge+Wall+Charger&linkCode=osi&------123456890?5422-20" target="_blank" rel="nofollow sponsored">OPPO 80W SuperVOOC Flash Charge Wall Charger: Basically identical tech but usually cheaper if you find a deal. It works perfectly with the Nord 4.
- Realme 67W SuperDart Charge Block: The absolute budget pick. It's not 100W but it's way faster than what ur using now! Basically, the official 80W is safest, the OPPO+is+the+best+value&linkCode=osi&------123456890?5422-20" target="_blank" rel="nofollow sponsored">OPPO is the best value, and Realme is for strict budgets. Honestly? Getting the OPPO+charger+is+the+BIG+b&linkCode=osi&------123456890?5422-20" target="_blank" rel="nofollow sponsored">OPPO charger is the BIG brain budget play for that Nord 4! gl!!
Curious about one thing: are you using the stock red cable or the one from ur Anker 735 Charger GaNPrime 65W? I've tried many chargers over the years and sometimes the cable is actually the problem! Basically:
- OnePlus+uses+special+SuperVO&linkCode=osi&------123456890?5422-20" target="_blank" rel="nofollow sponsored">OnePlus uses special SuperVOOC tech. - Most chargers use 'Power Delivery', which I think the Nord limits. Let me know about that cable!
Sooo just catching up. I went through this last year... SuperVOOC is basically a proprietary current-controlled protocol. Unfortunately, non-certified bricks cause heat that degrades ur battery. I had issues with generic ones before. - OPPO+80W+SuperVOOC+Wall+Charger&linkCode=osi&------123456890?5422-20" target="_blank" rel="nofollow sponsored">OPPO 80W SuperVOOC Wall Charger: Safe and cheaper, but slightly slower.
- Realme 100W SuperDart Charging Brick: Matches speed, tho cable quality was disappointing. Honestly, i stayed official for safety.
