I recently upgraded to the OnePlus 12, and honestly, the battery life has been fantastic so far. However, I’ve got a few long trips coming up, and I’m really struggling to find a power bank that can actually keep up with this phone’s charging speeds. Since the OP12 supports up to 80W (or 100W depending on the region) SUPERVOOC charging, I’m worried that a standard Power Delivery (PD) or Quick Charge (QC) power bank will just be painfully slow.
I’ve been looking around, but it seems like most third-party portable chargers cap out at 18W or 27W for OnePlus devices, which kind of defeats the purpose of having such a fast-charging phone. I really want something that can top up that massive 5,400mAh battery quickly while I'm on the move. I checked the official OnePlus store, but their high-speed power banks are constantly out of stock in my area.
Has anyone found a reliable third-party power bank that actually triggers the SUPERVOOC fast charging animation? I’ve heard maybe some Oppo or Realme accessories work, or even specific brands like Shargeek, but I’d love some real-world confirmation before I drop $60-$100. Does anyone have a specific model they use daily with their OnePlus 12 that doesn't take forever to charge?
So basically the consensus is that proprietary VOOC handshake is the real bottleneck. Tbh, since official stuff is hard to find, I've been really satisfied with the Oppo+33W+SUPERVOOC+Power+Bank+10000mAh&linkCode=osi&------123456890?5422-20" target="_blank" rel="nofollow sponsored">Oppo 33W SUPERVOOC Power Bank 10000mAh which usually costs around $35. It's way safer than random clones and actually triggers the charging animation. It’s not 80W, but for the price and reliability, it’s a solid budget win. gl!
sooo honestly i feel u... i just got my OP12 and basically had the same struggle. i dont know much about volts or anything but For your situation, i would suggest looking at Oppo stuff since its the same tech. I tried the Anker 737 Power Bank PowerCore 24K but unfortunately it only charges at like 27W max which is basically a joke for a $100 bank... it totally failed me. Comparing the OPPO+80W+SUPERVOOC+Power+Bank+12000mAh+PBV02&linkCode=osi&------123456890?5422-20" target="_blank" rel="nofollow sponsored">OPPO 80W SUPERVOOC Power Bank 12000mAh PBV02 vs the Realme 30W Dart Charge Power Bank 10000mAh... well the Oppo is like $65 and actually hits those high speeds while the Realme is only $30 but way slower. Honestly the Oppo is the best choice even tho its pricey... just be careful and use the original cable cuz i had issues with cheap ones and i dont wanna fry the battery!! gl... peace
Same setup here, love it
Ok so I've been thinking about ur struggle cuz I’m in the same boat. Ngl it’s super annoying that OnePlus+uses+proprietary+tec&linkCode=osi&------123456890?5422-20" target="_blank" rel="nofollow sponsored">OnePlus uses proprietary tech because most standard banks just won't cut it. Basically, the phone needs a specific 'handshake' using the VOOC protocol to trigger those high speeds, otherwise it just defaults to basic Power Delivery (PD) which is way slower. If ur looking for a balance between speed and cost, I would suggest looking at the OPPO+33W+SUPERVOOC+Power+Bank+10000mAh&linkCode=osi&------123456890?5422-20" target="_blank" rel="nofollow sponsored">OPPO 33W SUPERVOOC Power Bank 10000mAh. Even though it’s not 80W, it’s official tech so it actually triggers the fast charge animation and it’s wayy more reliable than random third-party brands. Plus, it’s usually much cheaper than the boutique stuff. If u really want top speeds, u might want to consider hunting for the OPPO+80W+SUPERVOOC+Power+Bank&linkCode=osi&------123456890?5422-20" target="_blank" rel="nofollow sponsored">OPPO 80W SUPERVOOC Power Bank on import sites, but honestly it's pretty expensive. Just be careful with something like the Baseus 100W Blade Power Bank—it’s great for laptops, but your OP12 will probably cap out at 27W max because it doesn't have the right chip for VOOC. Just something to keep in mind!
@Reply #1 - good point! Honestly its ridiculous how we have to jump through all these hoops just to use the features we paid for. I've been with OnePlus since the 3T days and this proprietary charging stuff drives me crazy. It feels like such a scam when you spend $800 on a flagship phone with 100W charging but then you're basically handcuffed to their specific, overpriced accessories that are never even in stock anyway. It really bugs me that the industry cant just agree on a universal standard that actually works at high speeds. Companies just dont care about the user experience once they have our money. You buy a massive 'high speed' bank from a reputable brand and it still charges like a snail because of some secret software handshake. Its super frustrating to be out on a trip and watching your battery percentage crawl up while you're tethered to a brick that should be doing ten times the work. Ngl, the whole situation is just exhausting for long-term users who just want stuff to work.

I spent weeks hunting for something that wouldnt just trickle charge my OP12 while hiking last summer. After trying a bunch of generic stuff that promised 100W but only delivered 18W to OnePlus, I finally bit the bullet on some high-end gear. Tbh if you want that performance, you gotta look at brands that specifically support the PPS protocol or have some VOOC compatibility.
> I’m worried that a standard Power Delivery (PD) or Quick Charge (QC) power bank will just be painfully slow. Honestly youre right to be worried. In my experience over the years testing these proprietary protocols, the biggest trap is thinking a high wattage rating on a standard PD bank means anything for us. I’ve tried many high-end bricks that claim 100W output but the OnePlus 12 just sees them as a basic charger. It usually drops down to like 18W or maybe 27W if the PPS implementation is decent, which is basically useless when youre in a rush. Word of warning though... watch out for those random fast charge banks you see on sites like Ali or even some Amazon sellers claiming full VOOC support. I once had one that got way too hot because the handshake was buggy and it kept cycling the power. Not worth frying your port or degrading that massive battery just to save a few bucks. Its really annoying that the tech is so closed off, but definitely dont just trust the labels without seeing real tests first.
