Hello, I'm planning to use it with Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 6 and need a gimbal recommendation. What would you take?

For Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 6 I would take Zhiyun Smooth Q4 without hesitation. The price-performance ratio is great The performance eliminates bubbles effectively.

Long-term experience: Using Zhiyun Smooth Q4 for several months and am thrilled. Have researched for a long time and this product was the best choice. The quality clearly exceeds my expectations. Very good price-performance ratio, can only recommend further.

For Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 6 DJI OM 7 fits best. The thickness is sufficient even for heavy use The ergonomic design allows for comfortable handling.

Totally agree with Tyler on the motor torque issue. Using a Fold 6 on a gimbal that isnt rated for that weight is just asking for a broken motor or a dropped phone, which nobody wants with a device that expensive. From what I have seen in the community, you really need something with beefy motors to handle the center of gravity when it is unfolded.

  • Hohem iSteady M6 Kit is probably the safest bet for reliability. It has a 400g payload capacity which handles the Fold even with a heavy case. The motors are professional grade and wont overheat as easily.
  • Insta360 Flow AI-Powered Smartphone Stabilizer is another one people talk about because the AI tracking is great, but honestly, it feels a bit thin for a heavy foldable. It works, but the Hohem feels more secure. If you are worried about the safety of your device, I would go with the Hohem. Its not as sleek as some others but it definitely feels more sturdy for a tablet-sized phone.

just saw this thread and honestly i have been so happy with how the fold 6 handles video lately. but before i give my two cents i really need to know a couple things:

  • are you planning to shoot with the device fully unfolded most of the time?
  • what kind of case are you rocking on that thing? the center of gravity shift is a total beast from a technical perspective once you open it up. i actually saw an incredible breakdown video on youtube recently that covers all the motor stress tests for this phone. just search z fold 6 gimbal weight distribution and its like the first result that pops up. honestly just checking the manufacturer specs on their own sites is usually the fastest way to see if the motors can actually handle the payload... anyway, let me know about the setup and i can dig deeper.

Zhiyun Smooth 5 is definitely the best choice for Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 6. The installation is very easy The quality out of the box is very good.

Why this product? The quality convinces in all tests - both for protection and for functionality. Unbeatable for the price, can only recommend. Have already used it for several months, always satisfied. Also more than sufficient for demanding use.

Honestly, picking a gimbal for the Z Fold 6 is a bit of a nightmare because of that weird center of gravity, right? I'm not 100% sure on the exact millimeter clearance for every new model hitting the market right now, but IIRC, the community consensus is that you absolutely MUST look at the raw payload specs and motor torque before pulling the trigger. From what I've seen in the technical deep-dives, here is what you gotta look for:
* A clamp that can actually handle the width when it's unfolded (most standard ones are way too narrow).
* High-torque brushless motors—otherwise, the gimbal is gonna overheat trying to stabilize that heavy hinge.
* Offset arm designs so the frame doesn't smack into the tilt motor during pan movements. Tbh, most of the entry-level stuff is kinda underpowered for a beast this heavy. If you're gonna use it unfolded, you might even need to look into those specialized counterweight kits just to keep the axes from drooping, you know?

What protection level are you thinking? That makes a big difference for Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 6.
