I just picked up the new Samsung Galaxy S24 FE, and I’m honestly impressed by the camera quality for the price. I want to take my mobile photography a bit more seriously, especially for landscape shots and some night mode experiments. I’m currently looking for a solid, portable tripod that’s sturdy enough for windy days and perhaps a decent clip-on macro lens that fits the S24 FE's specific lens layout. I’m also curious if there are any specific gimbals that play well with Samsung’s stabilization software. I’m trying to keep my total spend around $150. Does anyone have recommendations for must-have gear that pairs perfectly with this model?

ok so, I've had issues with cheap gear failing me before, but for $150 here is what I recommend: * SmallRig 71-inch Aluminum Tripod with Monopod - heavy but sturdy for windy days.
* Apexel 100mm Macro Lens - unfortunately, clip-ons are finicky with the FE lens layout.
* DJI Osmo Mobile SE Intelligent Gimbal - works best with Samsung, although the app experience is kinda mid tbh.

I went through this last year. My setup cost under $120:
- Ulanzi MT-11 Octopus Tripod ($20)
- Zhiyun Smooth Q4 Gimbal ($89)
They handle the FE realy well. Honestly, pricey gear ISNT always better!

Sooo, I've been in your shoes and honestly, being cautious is the way to go so you don't drop your new phone! I'm pretty new to this too, but here's how my experience has been with my current setup: 1. **Windy situations:** I learned the hard way that super light stands are a no-go for landscapes. The one I use now is a bit heavier and made of sturdy metal, and it’s been *so* much more reliable for me. I feel much safer leaving it out for those long night mode shots now.
2. **Macro lenses:** I actually struggled with the lens layout at first. I ended up getting a universal clip-on lens with a sliding mount. It’s kinda finicky to line up with the specific lens on the back, but it works well once it’s set!
3. **Smooth video:** I was reallyyy worried about a gimbal clashing with the phone’s internal stabilization. But the one I have basically just enhances what the phone already does. It feels professional without being too complex for a beginner like me. I'm super satisfied with my gear and it definitely stayed under $150. Good luck with the FE!! 👍

Basically, night shots need total stillness so they dont blur. Cheap, light stands are risky in wind, so I'd get the Sensyne 62-inch Phone Tripod for $25. It's sturdy enough to keep ur phone safe. Also, the Xenvo Pro Lens Kit for $40 clips on very securely. It's a solid budget setup that leaves u extra cash compared to pro rigs! Honestly, it just works. gl!

Jumping in here because I'm also really satisfied with how the FE handles night shots when it stays perfectly still. I'm always paranoid about my phone tipping over in the wind, so I focus on gear that actually feels secure. Here are a few things I use that havent failed me yet:

  • Manfrotto Pixi Evo 2-Section Mini Tripod
  • This is my go-to for landscapes. It has a much lower center of gravity than those tall spindly stands, so it wont blow over easily. It feels way more professional and holds the phone weight without sagging.
  • Hohem iSteady XE Kit Gimbal
  • I prefer this over the bigger brands because its straightforward and the motor is surprisingly strong for the price. It keeps the S24 FE steady during video without that annoying vibration you get on some budget models.
  • Sirui 10x Macro Phone Lens
  • Honestly, skip the plastic clips and get this. The build quality is metal and glass. It stays put better on the FE lens module and the image clarity is a massive step up from the cheap kits. Everything here should fit under that 150 budget if you shop around. I've been happy with this setup for a few weeks now with no complaints.

To add to the point above: I am totally with jvknwwkhfi on the stability thing! Wind is literally the enemy of a sharp landscape shot. I've been obsessed with my S24 FE lately and found a few gems that really level things up without breaking the bank.

  • Insta360 Flow AI-Powered Gimbal
  • This thing is amazing! The tracking is way better than the Zhiyun stuff imo, and it has a built-in cold shoe which is a lifesaver for adding a small light. It's way more portable too.
  • Joby GripTight ONE GP Stand
  • Love it because you can wrap it around a fence or a tree branch for those impossible angles. It's super light but surprisingly grippy compared to those stiff tall ones.
  • Moment Wide 18mm Lens
  • If you want serious quality, this is the gold standard. Ngl, clip-ons can be hit or miss with the FE layout, but this feels like real glass and the clarity is fantastic. Basically, if you're doing macro stuff, try this DIY hack: use a translucent white plastic cup over the lens as a diffuser for the flash. It makes the lighting look so professional for basically zero dollars! It's honestly a game changer for those tiny details... gotta love a cheap fix that actually works!
