Must-have accessory recommendations for the new Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 7?

Hey everyone! I finally pulled the trigger and pre-ordered the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 7. After years of sticking with the standard slab-style S-series, I am both incredibly excited and a little bit terrified about finally making the jump to a foldable. This device is a massive investment, and I want to make sure I have everything ready to protect it and get the most out of that huge inner display from day one.

I am coming from a Galaxy S22 Ultra, so I am used to having the S Pen tucked away inside the phone body. From what I have seen of the early leaks and launch info, the Fold 7 still requires a specific case if you want to carry the stylus around conveniently. I am looking for a case that is slim enough to not make the phone feel like a brick in my pocket, but rugged enough to handle a accidental bump or drop. Does anyone have experience with the official Samsung standing covers versus third-party brands like Spigen or Dbrand? I am specifically looking for something with a hinge protector that doesn't add too much bulk.

I am also curious about the screen protector situation. I know the inner screen comes with one pre-installed that you shouldn't touch, but what are you all doing for the outer glass? Should I go for tempered glass or a flexible film? Also, since Samsung doesn't include a charging brick in the box anymore, I need a recommendation for a high-quality GaN charger that can handle the Fold 7 maximum charging speeds while maybe topping up my Galaxy Watch at the same time.

Lastly, for those of you who use your Fold for productivity or navigation, are there any specialized car mounts or desk stands that actually work with the weight of this device when it is fully unfolded? I am worried a standard magnetic mount might not hold it securely.

I would love to hear what your must-have accessory kit looks like for this generation. If you had to pick just two or three items that are absolute essentials for a new owner, what would they be?

TL;DR: Buy third-party brands like Spigen and Anker to save money. In my experience, official gear is overpriced. Over the years, I've learned third-party specs often exceed OEM standards. For your screen, Spigen Glas.tR EZ Fit for Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 7 is only $20 and provides 9H hardness. Also, Anker 735 Charger GaNPrime 65W is around $40 for your phone and watch. Have you checked mount weight limits? Dont overspend on youre first week...

Before I give advice, how often will you use the Samsung S Pen Fold Edition?

  • Daily notes
  • Occasional stuff Basically, your workflow actually dictates which hinge-protection case fits best... lmk!

Similar situation here

  • I went through this last year and was honestly terrified. Foldables feel so fragile compared to a slab phone, right? My journey was basically just trial and error to keep it safe... ngl it's a bit of a learning curve.
  • Thin case vs Hinge protector: I tried the thin ones first because I hate bulk, but I felt so anxious. I switched to a heavy case with a hinge cover. Pro: feels like a tank. Con: it's a brick. Best choice for me was definitely the extra safety for that expensive screen.
  • Film vs Tempered glass: I tried films but they scratched too fast. I swapped to thick glass for the outer screen. Its already saved me from my keys!! Glass is definitely the way to go for peace of mind.
  • Magnetic vs Grip mounts: My old magnetic mount was a disaster. The weight is no joke... I had to get a heavy-duty grip mount cuz the phone kept sliding off. Grip mounts are way more reliable for the weight. Are you planning to use it unfolded mostly? I'm still learning too. Good luck!! peace
