Hey everyone! I’m super stoked because I just pulled the trigger on the Galaxy Z Fold 7, but I realized I’m totally unprepared for the charging situation. Since Samsung doesn't include the power brick in the box anymore, I really want to make sure I have a charger that can actually handle the max speeds of this beast without overheating the device.

I know the Fold series usually relies on specific standards, and I’ve heard you specifically need a charger with PPS (Programmable Power Supply) support to hit those optimal 25W or 45W speeds. I’m currently looking for something that uses GaN technology because I travel quite a bit and need it to be compact. It would also be a huge plus if it has dual USB-C ports so I can juice up my Galaxy Watch at the same time.

Has anyone tested any specific chargers that work perfectly with the Fold 7's charging profile? I’m torn between sticking with the official Samsung 45W brick or going for something third-party like Anker or Ugreen. Does the official one really make a difference for long-term battery health, or are the high-end third-party ones just as safe for foldable screens?

What are your top recommendations for a reliable, super-fast charger that won't break the bank?

Sooo, I totally get being nervous about the charging situation. I've been using Fold devices for years now, and honestly, I'm super cautious about battery health because these things are EXPENSIVE. I remember when I used a random "fast" charger on my Fold 4 and the thing got so hot I literally couldnt touch the frame. Never again. For the Fold 7, u 100% need that PPS (Programmable Power Supply) support for Super Fast Charging 2.0 to actually work correctly without cooking ur battery. Here's what I recommend based on my testing: 1. Samsung 45W USB-C Fast Charging Wall Charger (EP-T4510)
- **Pros:** It's the official standard. It handles the handshake with the phone perfectly to keep heat low. Very reliable for long-term battery health.
- **Cons:** Only has one port, so u cant charge ur watch at the same time. Also, it's not GaN, so it's a bit bulkier than the others. 2. Anker 735 Charger GaNPrime 65W
- **Pros:** This is basically the gold standard for travel. It's tiny, uses GaN technology, and has 3 ports. It supports the PPS profile for Samsung perfectly.
- **Cons:** I've noticed it sometimes resets the power flow for a second when u plug in a second device, which is a bit annoying lol. 3. UGREEN Nexode 65W USB C Charger 3-Port GaN
- **Pros:** Usually the best value for the price. Build quality feels solid and it stays relatively cool during 45W bursts.
- **Cons:** In my experience, it runs slightly warmer than the Anker or Samsung bricks, but still within safe limits. Just a heads up, make sure u use a 5A rated cable or u wont actually hit those 45W speeds even with a 45W brick... basically a common mistake i see people make all the time. Anyway, congrats on the upgrade! gl with the new phone!

Pro tip: Check r/GalaxyFold for user data. • Baseus 65W GaN5 Pro: Runs cool, dual ports.
• Satechi 66W USB-C 3-Port GaN Charger: Premium safety. PPS is basically a must for foldables!

Basically, if you look at the actual power delivery curves on the Fold 7 - it only pulls that peak 45W for about the first 15-20% of the charge cycle before the thermal controller kicks in. In my testing, your better off focusing on thermal efficiency rather than just the raw wattage rating on the box. • Try the Belkin BoostCharge Pro 65W Dual USB-C GaN Wall Charger with PPS. It’s got way better ripple voltage control than most generic brands and doesnt get nearly as hot as the official Samsung brick during that high-current phase.
• For traveling, the Minix Neo P1 66W GaN Charger is basically the gold standard for compact multi-port setups. It hits the full 4.05A PPS requirement for SFC 2.0 without a sweat. tbh, just make sure you dont leave the phone on a soft surface while charging or the heat soak will just throttle you back to 15W anyway lol.

I've tested a bunch of these and honestly, you dont need the official Samsung one to get the best results. If youre looking for that sweet spot of performance and portability, Id grab the Spigen ArcStation Pro GaN 65W Dual Wall Charger. It handles the PPS 45W requirement like a champ, and its built like a tank for travel. One thing to watch out for is power splitting. If youre charging your Fold 7 and your watch at the same time, a 45W brick will usually throttle the phone down to 25W or less. That's why I suggest going for a 65W unit like the Anker 726 Charger Nano II 65W. It has enough overhead to keep your Fold at max speed while the watch juices up on the second port. Basically, it gives you that peace of mind that youre not babying the charge speeds just because you have a second device plugged in. Price-wise, youre usually looking at $35-$50 depending on sales, which is way better value than the official one. Just make sure your cable is up to the task too!

Tbh, after daily driving every Fold since the OG, the biggest money-saver is realizing you dont need the 'Samsung' branding to keep the battery healthy. The real technical hurdle people miss is the cable. To actually hit 45W speeds, your brick is only half the battle—you absolutely need a cable with a 5A E-marker chip. Most standard cables are capped at 3A, meaning you'll stay stuck at 25W regardless of how beefy your charger is. For a budget-friendly GaN setup that handles the Fold 7's thermal curves perfectly, I highly recommend the Anker 313 Charger (Ace, 45W). It’s specifically designed for Samsung’s SFC 2.0 protocols and is way more compact for travel than the official brick. If you're looking for a dual-port budget option for your watch, the Iniu 45W GaN Charger is a total sleeper hit. It's affordable, incredibly small, and supports the necessary 9V/5A PDO profiles without the coil whine you get on cheap knockoffs. Honestly, just use the 'Protect Battery' toggle in your settings to limit the charge to 80% or 85% - that'll do more for your long-term battery health than any specific brand of charger ever will.

Adding my two cents cuz I've been super cautious about this stuff lately... I remember reading that foldables are way more sensitive to heat, so I've been kinda nervous too. Basically, you reallyyy need that PPS support to hit those 45W speeds. For your situation, I'd suggest checking out the Ugreen Nexode Pro 65W GaN Fast Charger 3-Port. It's super compact for traveling and honestly works great for charging a phone and watch at the same time. I also looked at the Spigen ArcStation Pro GaN 45W Dual USB-C Wall Charger which is pretty tiny too and seems reliable. Honestly tho, I'm a bit scared of third-party stuff sometimes, so the official Samsung 45W Power Adapter with USB-C Cable might be the safest way to go... it's literally made for it so it shouldn't stress the battery as much? Idk, just make sure to watch the temps while charging! gl!
