My S25 Ultra pre-order is arriving Monday and I'm freaking out because I start a construction site job on Tuesday. I looked at the Spigen Tough Armor but some reviews say it's too thin for concrete drops, while Otterbox looks way too bulky for my hands. Need something solid under $60... what actually works?

Unfortunately, most rugged cases these days are a total letdown. I have spent way too much time looking at drop physics and it is disappointing how many brands prioritize looks over actual energy dispersion. The Tough Armor you mentioned? It is okay for a sidewalk, but construction sites are a different beast entirely. The problem is the internal dampening... if there isnt enough space for the material to compress, that shock goes straight into your frame. I had high hopes for some of the newer slim-rugged hybrids, but they just dont have the Shore A durometer ratings needed for high-impact protection. If you want something that isnt a brick like an Otterbox but actually survives a drop onto rebar, look at the UAG Pathfinder Series for S25 Ultra. It uses a feather-light composite construction with a hex-pattern inner shell that disperses force much better than solid rubber. It is usually right around $50 too so it fits your budget. For the screen, definitely avoid the cheap film protectors. They wont do anything against a dropped tool. I was disappointed with the fit of some generic brands lately, so stick with the Whitestone Dome Glass Screen Protector for S25 Ultra because the UV resin fill helps keep the glass bonded even when the frame flexes during a fall. TL;DR: Avoid the thin Spigen stuff for construction. Grab the UAG Pathfinder Series for S25 Ultra for the best protection-to-bulk ratio and a Whitestone Dome Glass Screen Protector for S25 Ultra to save your display from concrete scratches.
I used the Supcase Unicorn Beetle Pro for Galaxy S25 Ultra on my last site. Dropped it onto rebar and it survived fine, tbh its way under sixty bucks.
Agreeing with the point about the heavy duty gear being a tank. I once saw a coworker crack his glass because his slim case lip wasnt high enough for a gravel drop. It works fine for office life but not on-site.
