Ive had every Ultra since the S21 but the S26 frame looks way thinner. My logic was sticking with Spigen but I need better screen lip protection without the bulk since I work in construction. Budget is around $50 and my pre-order arrives Friday. Do the new magnets still mess with the S-Pen?
Like someone mentioned, those thin frames are tricky! I remember back with my S22 Ultra, I dropped it on a gravel site and the screen just shattered because the lip was too shallow. Total nightmare! For the S26, I actually grabbed a few to test out. The OtterBox Defender Series XT for Galaxy S26 Ultra MagSafe is legendary for protection, but it feels like a total tank in your pocket. Then I tried the Mous Limitless 6.0 Aramid Fiber for S26 Ultra and honestly? I love it! It uses that AiroShock stuff and the magnets are super strong but dont mess with my S-Pen at all anymore. If you want something in between, the UAG Monarch Pro Kevlar for S26 Ultra has fantastic corner bumpers. I always go for the Mous tho because it looks amazing but survives my clumsy hands every single day!
Regarding what #1 said about thin frames, Caseology Athlex Galaxy S26 Ultra is a solid construction pick for under 25 dollars. It offers great grip and wont interfere with your S-Pen magnets.
In my experience, thin frames usually mean you gotta sacrifice some screen lip depth. Over the years, Ive seen brands struggle to keep that lip high without making the phone feel like a brick. Regarding the magnets, I think they tweaked the induction shielding this year, but I am not 100% sure. IIRC, some beta testers still had minor jittering issues near the center.
^ This. Also, I totally get the anxiety about that thin frame! Honestly, I had a heart-stopping moment with my last phone where I went too slim for the aesthetic and paid the price when it hit a concrete floor. It was a total nightmare! Ever since then I have been obsessed with finding that perfect balance where the lip actually clears the glass. The one I am using now feels like such a tank compared to those flimsy ones, and I love it! I basically spend my lunch breaks testing the S-Pen near the magnets because I am so cautious about dead zones. So far, so good though! You are definitely gonna want that peace of mind when you are working on-site, it is just not worth the risk otherwise. I am so much happier now that I dont have to baby my phone every five minutes!
