I finally pulled the trigger on the S24 FE because my old S20 was basically a space heater at this point, super excited to get it in the mail today. But I just realized I totally forgot that they dont even give you the wall plug anymore lol. Ive been around the block with tech and I usually just grab whatever Anker brick is on sale but I really want to make sure I get the absolute fastest speeds for this specific model without it getting crazy hot.
So I was thinking... the FE is capped at 25W wired, right? My logic was that I could just use my old laptop charger since its USB-C and like 65W, but then I remembered Samsung is weird with their PPS protocols. If the brick doesnt support the exact PPS range the phone wants, it just defaults to like 10W or 15W and it takes like two hours to charge. I really dont want to sit around waiting for it to top up while I'm at the airport this weekend. Im heading to a wedding in Austin on Friday and I need something that can actually hit that Super Fast Charging status on the lock screen.
I looked at the official Samsung 25W travel adapter but honestly its kinda bulky and I've seen some reviews saying the pins get loose after a while. Then I saw those Ugreen Nexode ones which look cool because they're GaN and super tiny, but do they actually talk to the S24 FE properly? I dont want to spend $40 on a brick that ends up being slow charging. Also been eyeing the Anker 312 or 711 but there are so many versions now its actually confusing.
Whats everyone using for their FE? Is it worth getting a 45W brick just to future-proof even if the phone doesnt pull that much, or does that cause issues with the handshake? Just want something reliable that wont fry the battery or stop working in a month...
> I really want to make sure I get the absolute fastest speeds for this specific model without it getting crazy hot. honestly you dont need to spend $40... just grab the Anker 312 25W Foldable GaN Wall Charger because its super cheap and tiny! i use it on all my samsung gear and it hits that super fast charging status every single time. dont bother with the 45W brick either, the FE wont even use it anyway. save your money for some good bbq in austin instead. amazing value!
Building on the earlier suggestion, I’ve actually been pretty disappointed with those ultra-tiny 25W bricks lately. Everyone hypes them up because they’re small, but honestly, I’ve had issues with them running way too hot during long charging sessions. It’s not great for the long-term health of your battery, and I’ve had a couple just die on me after a few months... kinda frustrating tbh. I have to politely disagree with going for the absolute smallest or cheapest option here. When you’re at the airport and need that quick top-up, you want something that won’t thermal throttle. I’ve found that the Ugreen Nexode 45W Dual USB C GaN Charger is a much better bet than the bare minimum 25W ones. Even though the S24 FE only pulls 25W, having a 45W capable brick means it isn't constantly maxed out, so it stays way cooler. Plus, it handles the Samsung PPS protocol perfectly so you’ll definitely see that Super Fast Charging text on your lock screen. Quick tip: dont ignore the cable. A lot of people reuse old cables that aren’t rated for higher amperage, and then wonder why it’s charging slow. Grab a decent Anker 543 USB-C to USB-C Cable 100W and you’ll be set for years. TL;DR: Skip the tiny 25W bricks if you care about heat and longevity. Overkill on the wattage usually means better thermals and reliability.
Just catching up here and yeah, unfortunately that laptop charger might let you down. My older 65W bricks werent as good as expected and didnt trigger Super Fast Charging at all. I think the FE is just really picky about the PPS range... not 100% sure but I heard it just falls back to 15W if it isnt a perfect match. Super annoying honestly.
> Is it worth getting a 45W brick just to future-proof even if the phone doesnt pull that much In my experience, going with a 45W brick is totally fine and actually runs cooler because it isnt pinned at 100% capacity. Ive tried many chargers over the years and the Spigen ArcStation Pro 45W GaN Wall Charger is probably the most reliable one Ive owned. It talks to the Samsung PPS protocol perfectly so youll see that blue charging ring every time. Its super solid and hasnt let me down once. If you're worried about the official Samsung one being flimsy, I get it, but the Samsung 25W Wall Charger with USB-C is still the most compatible. I havent had the pin issue myself but I get why people worry. For something built like a tank, look at the Belkin BoostCharge 25W USB-C PD 3.0 PPS Wall Charger. Its a bit chunkier than the tiny cubes but the build quality is top tier and they have a massive insurance policy for connected devices. Either way, you wont fry the battery... the phone and brick negotiate the power, so you can use a 100W brick and itll still only pull 25W safely. Lemme know if you need help finding the right cable too, because thats half the battle!
