So I just got the Fold 7 in and man this thing is way thinner than my old Fold 4 but it feels way more fragile too. Ive been a loyal user since the early days but the new screen ratio is messing with my old holster setup and I need a fix fast because Im heading to a tech conference in Austin next week.
I really need a case that actually protects the hinge without being a massive brick and maybe a recommendation for a car mount that wont drop this heavy thing when I hit a pothole. Also does anyone know if the 45w PPS chargers from the S24 series are still the best bet here? What are the absolute must-have accessories you guys are picking up for the 7?
> I really need a case that actually protects the hinge without being a massive brick I once dented my Fold hinge just bumping it against a desk, so I'm pretty paranoid. You might want to consider the Spigen Slim Armor Pro for Z Fold 7 for that sliding hinge cover. Also, make sure to use the Samsung 45W USB-C Fast Charging Wall Charger for the PPS 3.0 protocol. It prevents heat spikes during the fast-charge cycle. Be careful with cheap cables tho.
Building on the earlier suggestion, those choices are quite solid.
Re: "> a car mount that wont drop this heavy thing" You might want to consider the iOttie Easy One Touch 5 Cup Holder Mount instead of a vent clip. I would suggest this because the Folds weight often snaps vent slats during sharp turns or potholes. Make sure to tighten the base fully before driving. Also, be careful with third-party screen protectors; I suggest the Whitestone Dome Silk Screen Protector to avoid damaging the delicate inner display layers.
I was just thinking about this because I'm a total klutz and I almost smashed my last Fold on day one! Honestly, for the case, you should just look at what Supcase is doing lately. I bought one of their hinge protection cases last year and it was a total lifesaver without being way too thick. I dropped it on a gravel path and not a single scratch!! Their stuff is so much better for the price than the official Samsung stuff, seriously. For the car mount, you really cant go wrong with the magnetic ones from Scosche. They are fantastic and stay put even when you're hitting bumps at high speeds. I love them because they're so easy to just slap the phone on and go. Also, for the charging, I basically only use Ugreen now. Their stuff is amazing and way more compact than the standard bricks you get everywhere else. Just grab one of their high-speed wall chargers and you'll be totally set for your conference next week!
My buddy told me the exact same thing last week. Guess he was right lol.
Exactly what I was thinking
