Ive been using PD chargers forever but these new PPS profiles for the S26 Plus are confusing. My logic was any 45W GaN brick would hit max speed but now Im seeing weird voltage curve requirements. I need a slim one for my London trip next month, budget is $50, what actually works?
> are you looking for a single port unit to save space Totally agree on the space saving. Be careful tho, some bricks lack the 5A PPS spec. I suggest Anker 313 45W GaN II Ace because its super budget friendly and works perfectly.
^ This. Also, while the Anker is a solid budget pick, I might want to suggest something even flatter if youre really worried about space. Some of those bricks stick out way too far from hotel wall outlets and just fall out. The Spigen ArcStation Pro 45W GaN Wall Charger is probably a better bet because its super thin and fits in a pocket easily. A few things to make sure of:
Like someone mentioned, those PPS curves are a total nightmare to track sometimes! You really need something that wont brick itself the second it gets warm because reliability is everything when you are abroad. Honestly, for me, its all about the build quality because ive had cheap ones literally melt in hotel rooms when I was traveling! Speaking of London, man, I was there for a tech expo a few years back and I swear those massive UK outlets are like a logic puzzle if you arent prepared! I ended up spending half my time at this tiny pub in Shoreditch instead of the actual panels. Best meat pies ive ever had in my life, seriously! The guy behind the bar was a total character, kept telling me stories about his time as a roadie for some 80s hair metal band. I actually forgot I even had a phone until my battery hit zero. We ended up arguing about which guitar amp was the goat for like three hours. Anyway sorry kinda went off topic there lol.
Any updates on this?
Ive been using a slim GaN brick for my travel setup lately and honestly, the performance has been great. I'm really satisfied with how it manages those PPS curves without heating up too much. Before I suggest something, are you looking for a single port unit to save space or do you need multiple ports for other gear? Also, does it need to have built-in UK pins for your London trip?
