What is the best fast charger for the new Galaxy A56 5G that actually hits the top speeds without costing a fortune? Just picked one up because my old A52 finally gave up the ghost and the battery was basically a spicy pillow at that point. I am in the UK and noticed the box is basically empty except for the phone and a cable which is super annoying honestly. I have been looking around online and I keep seeing people mention that Samsung uses Super Fast Charging but it is really picky about the PPS protocol and I am not sure if my old stuff works.
I saw some people on Reddit saying the official 25W brick is fine and plenty fast, but then some other tech blogs claim the A56 can actually handle 45W like the more expensive S series now. I am totally lost on this. If I go out and buy a 45W Anker block or something, is it actually gonna charge faster or am I just wasting my money for nothing? I am a student on a pretty tight budget so I do not want to spend like 35 or 40 pounds on a single plug if a cheaper 15 pound one does the exact same thing in the same amount of time.
I also really need something reliable because I travel for uni on the train a lot and my battery usually dies by mid-afternoon since I am always on Spotify or watching YouTube between my lectures. Some listings on Amazon say PD 3.0 and others say PPS and I dont really know if they are the same thing or if I need both for it to work right? I tried using my old Macbook charger yesterday and it felt like it took forever, it literally took over two hours to get to 100 which seems way too slow for a modern phone in 2024.
Basically I just want to know which specific brand or model you guys are using that definitely shows the Super Fast Charging notification on the screen or if I should just bite the bullet and get the official Samsung one. Does the A56 even support the 45W 2.0 charging or is it capped at 25W...
Re: "Honestly, its super disappointing..." true. I once fried a charging port with a cheap block, so be careful. A56 caps at 25W anyway.
Honestly, its super disappointing how Samsung keeps stripping the box bare then making the charging tech so picky. You basically need PPS (Programmable Power Supply) or that phone just sits there trickling power. Your MacBook charger is likely just standard Power Delivery without the specific PPS voltage steps Samsung requires, which is why it was so slow. Unfortunately, even if the A56 technically supports 45W now, I have found the actual real-world difference between 25W and 45W to be pretty pathetic. You might save ten minutes total because the phone only hits that peak speed for a tiny window before it gets warm and throttles down. If you are on a budget, dont waste your cash on a massive 45W brick thinking itll be a game changer. It just isnt. I have had decent luck with the Anker 312 Charger 25W PPS for a cheap option, but honestly, the most reliable one I have used that always triggers the Super Fast Charging text is the Samsung 25W PD Power Adapter EP-T2510. It is usually around 15 or 17 quid on Amazon. I tried some off-brand ones that claimed PPS but they would constantly disconnect or just do standard fast charging. Stick to the 25W stuff, it is plenty for the A-series and wont break the bank for uni. If you really want more juice for the train, maybe look at a power bank instead with the leftover cash.
To add to the point above: honestly, dont waste your cash on those expensive 45W bricks! The A56 is capped at 25W anyway so you wont see any speed boost. I am totally obsessed with the Ugreen Nexode 30W GaN Charger lately! It is super tiny, cheap, and triggers the Super Fast Charging text instantly. It is basically the perfect budget pick for uni, trust me!
