Can I just send a link to my Amazon UK shopping cart so my mum can see the items? I'm moving into my first flat in London on Saturday and have about £200 worth of stuff saved but whenever I share the URL it shows her own empty basket. I feel so silly asking this but I'm totally lost...
Like someone mentioned, the cart system is just not built for sharing. I had the exact same problem when I was buying stuff for my spare room... so frustrating when you just want a second opinion on the budget. I ended up using a couple of tricks to get around it:
Not sure but I don't think you can share the actual cart directly. I remember trying this when I moved to Manchester and it was a total nightmare. I think it's because the basket is private to your session, tbh. What works well for me:
Just saw this while grabbing coffee and honestly i love geeking out over how these sites work! I spent years messing with web scrapers and price trackers so i totally get the frustration. Last summer i was building a high-end PC and tried to share my basket with a buddy for a quick check. Same thing happened. Basically, Amazon stores your cart data in session-based cookies and server-side tokens linked to your specific account ID. The URL you see is just a generic path to the checkout view, it doesnt actually hold any data about the items themselves! it is basically a ghost link once it leaves your browser session. I have got a couple of questions though to see what the best workaround might be:
This situation reminds me of when my colleague was preparing for a move to a flat in North London. He had a substantial list of items ready, but the entire process turned into a significant ordeal. I suggested that he should be extremely cautious regarding the third-party vendors he was selecting. Basically, some of those delivery timelines are quite unreliable, so being careful is paramount. We spent several hours verifying the authenticity of the sellers to avoid any potential issues on moving day. It is important to be mindful of the total cost fluctuations as well tho. The whole experience was quite stressful for everyone involved, especially with the technical hiccups... it was just a very difficult afternoon.
