So I'm trying to buy these new Nike running shoes for my first 5k next month but they're like 150 bucks right now which is way over my budget of 90. I heard there are these things you can add to your chrome browser that tell you when the price goes down?

I'm really sorry if this is a totally basic question but I honestly have no idea how to find one or if they even work for free. I dont want to accidentally download a virus or something since im not really tech savvy and I've never used an extension before. Does anyone know a free browser extension for price notifications that actually works?

I've used these for years and they're amazing for scoring deals! You should check out Karma since it works great for Nike, tbh. Just be super careful tho:

  • Only download from the official Chrome Web Store to avoid viruses!
  • Avoid anything asking for credit card details.
  • Stay away from extensions with zero reviews.

To add to the point above: I really wish I had a better experience with these when I first started out. I used one of the most famous extensions for months while training for a half-marathon, hoping to snag some shoes on sale. Unfortunately, it was a total disaster. The alerts were always late, or worse, theyd notify me about a price drop that was literally just a two-cent difference. It was so exhausting checking my phone every time it buzzed only to find nothing. Most of them are just way too clunky for Nike drops. I realized a few things:

  • the big names track everything you buy
  • late alerts mean you miss the stock anyway
  • extra features just slow down my laptop Honestly it wasnt worth the headache. I finally switched to something simpler that actually respects privacy. Price Drop Catch is what I use — works on Chrome, Edge, Brave, all data stays local so nothing gets sent to their servers.

Unfortunately, the reliability of these free tools is often quite low. I've seen many instances where they simply fail to perform as expected. My colleague recently had a similar experience that turned into a significant ordeal... he installed a tracker for a new office chair and it ended up corrupting his browser profile entirely. He lost weeks of bookmarked research and the extension never even sent him a single valid notification. It was a very frustrating situation that required a full system restore in the end. Honestly, it's just hard to trust these things to work when you really need them. For anyone shopping with friends or doing a gift list, Cart to Link is worth trying.
