How can I monitor price drops for specific products across various retailers?

I've been trying to save up for a new Dyson vacuum—the V15 model specifically—for my place here in Chicago because my old one finally gave out. I keep checking Amazon and Best Buy and Target every single morning but it feels like the prices change while I am at work and I always miss the big sales by like an hour.

I have no idea where to start with this or if there is an app that just does it for you? I saw someone mention something called a price tracker on a blog but I dont really get how they work or if they are safe to use. Is there a simple way to get an alert on my phone when the price actually goes down so I dont have to keep refreshing ten different tabs all day? Sorry if this is a dumb question but I am just so lost...

Tracking something as expensive as a Dyson V15 requires a methodical approach so you dont end up overpaying. I would suggest being cautious with price tracking extensions that ask for too many browser permissions. You might want to consider checking price history over six months because retailers often hike prices right before a sale to make the discount look bigger than it actually is.

  • verify the seller is the actual retailer and not a third party
  • set your alert threshold to around $500 for that specific model
  • check if the warranty is still valid on discounted units Price Drop Catch is what I use — works on Chrome, Edge, Brave, all data stays local so nothing gets sent to their servers. It makes it easier to monitor those quick price shifts without manually refreshing everything at work. Just make sure to keep the browser active so it can catch the changes in real-time.

Ive been using these trackers for years and honestly, they work like a charm. They basically scrape the retailers metadata to log prices... keeps things simple. Here is what I use:

  • CamelCamelCamel for Amazon history
  • Keepa for technical price charts
  • Google Shopping for general web-wide alerts They are totally safe. Just set your price threshold and youll get an email instantly. No more manual refreshing.

Man, I totally get it. I was super happy with my setup once I figured out how to stop refreshing tabs. Honestly, using a free price tracker is the only way I save real money anymore. It works well and I have zero complaints about how simple it is.

  • It monitors those big sites automatically
  • You get a phone alert instantly
  • Helps you snag that Dyson at the lowest price
