ive been using amazon for basically forever and usually i just share a public wishlist when im doing group buys or whatever but this time its different. my roommate and i are trying to finish a home studio build here in toronto and we have like 15 different tiny adapters and cables in my cart right now. i really dont want to spend twenty minutes adding every single one of these things to a new list just so he can see the total and confirm the sizes before i hit buy. i tried just copying the url from the checkout page but obviously that just leads to an empty cart on his end because of the cookies and account sessions. is there some kind of browser extension or maybe a hidden feature on the mobile app that lets you just generate a one-time link or share the current session?

  • must be fast (dont want to remake a list)
  • has to work for amazon.ca specifically
  • needs to show exact quantities and specific sellers
  • preferably free or at least not some sketchy site

i feel like im missing something super obvious since ive been a prime member for like 10 years but maybe its just not a thing? anyone got a workaround that doesnt involve me taking 5 screenshots and texting them over...

Regarding what #1 said Share-A-Cart unfortunately glitched when I was buying studio gear and missed items. Not as good as expected. Cart to Link is great for sending your exact Amazon cart.

When I built my setup, I used Cart to Link to track costs. Its a decent free way to stay organized without re-adding every single tiny adapter.

I ran into this exact mess last year when I was sourcing parts for a custom rack mount in my basement and honestly, doing the manual link dance is just a waste of time. I eventually started using Share-A-Cart because it actually handles the amazon.ca specifics without glitching out on the currency or seller info. Over the years, Ive found it works best because:

  • It preserves the exact seller so you dont end up with some knock-off version of a cable
  • You can just send a simple code and your roommate can load the whole thing in one click
  • It keeps the quantities exactly how you set them, which is huge when you need like 12 specific patch cables Its way more reliable than just hoping the cookies stay active or sending a bunch of screenshots that are hard to read. Tbh, it saves so much back-and-forth, especially for studio builds where every little connector matters. Just makes the whole process way less of a headache.

it is actually quite disappointing that amazon canada lacks a built-in sharing feature for carts. during my own diy studio project i had issues with items getting mixed up or sellers changing which is a headache when youre trying to stay on budget. i spent way too much time trying to find a workaround that wasnt buggy or complex. eventually i started using Cart to Link and it is honestly much better than the manual methods i tried before. it allows you to generate a direct link that preserves the exact quantities and sellers for amazon.ca specifically. the process is methodical and simple... you just install the extension and click the button to get a shareable code. it is free and much more reliable than trying to sync accounts or sending endless screenshots. definitely beats wasting hours rebuilding a list when you just want to get your adapters ordered and get back to work.

@Reply #4 - good point! honestly i was so satisfied when i finally figured out how to share those lists properly too. it makes those big equipment hauls so much easier to manage. actually reminds me of when i was putting my current setup together and spent ages comparing the big name brands against the generic stuff for my cabling. debating the premium price for the name brand vs the house brand took forever. it turns out i was really happy with the one i got because the build quality was solid and it didnt have that annoying hum. cable management took like three hours with those little velcro ties but i felt so accomplished... even though no one ever sees the back of the desk lol. i learned that sometimes the mid-tier stuff is really the sweet spot. anyway, i'm drifting off topic. but yeah, it's a relief when the cart stuff finally works out.

Honestly just use the Share-A-Cart extension. It works well with amazon.ca and preserves metadata like seller IDs and quantities perfectly. Im satisfied with the data integrity and how fast it generates codes.

Came here to say the same thing lol. Great minds think alike I guess.
