What is the best app for sharing Amazon carts with friends?

I am seriously stressing out right now because Im supposed to be the organizer for this group hiking trip to Zion next month and my friends are being so difficult about the gear list. We have like five people trying to coordinate tents, stoves, and sleeping pads and my inbox is just a graveyard of random Amazon links. I need a way for everyone to just throw their stuff into one big cart so I can see the total and we can split it easily.

I did some digging and found this extension called Share-A-Cart but it looks like it just sends the cart to someone else? My logic was that we needed a collaborative thing where we can all add stuff together in real time but I cant tell if that app actually lets people edit the list or if it just takes a snapshot of what I have. Then I saw something about an app called Basket but some of the reviews say the prices dont sync correctly and I really dont want to overcharge anyone or deal with the drama of the total changing at checkout.

If we dont get this gear ordered by Tuesday we wont have it in time for the drive out from Vegas. So I was thinking maybe we just use one person's login but then everyone's credit cards are saved and it feels like a huge security risk. Is there anything that actually works for a group or should I just give up and make everyone venmo me first... i dont know what to do here.

Sharing logins is risky. Honestly, over the years i found Share-A-Cart is the safest way to go... its reliable and keeps my personal account info private.

^ This. Also, I’ve been organizing gear for my hiking group for years and that real-time collab you’re looking for is honestly a bit of a trap. In my experience, having five people edit one live cart is a total nightmare because Amazon prices shift by the minute and items go out of stock while you're looking at them. You need something that stays static until you’re ready to pull the trigger. Over the years I found Cart to link is the most reliable way to go because it doesn't glitch out or give those weird sync errors some of the other apps do. Heres how I'd do it to hit that Tuesday deadline:

  • Have everyone send their specific gear picks to you using the extension
  • You merge them into one master list
  • Send everyone a screenshot of the final total so they can Venmo you immediately
  • Hit buy once the cash is in It keeps it way cleaner than trying to manage a live session where people keep changing their minds. Plus, its way safer than sharing logins which is just asking for trouble... definitely don't do that lol.
