Seriously what is the actual best app for tracking Amazon price drops because im about to throw my phone out the window with how bad my current ones are working. Im trying to finish my home office setup here in Chicago before my new job starts in two weeks and its been a total nightmare trying to catch a deal. I have about $1200 saved up for a decent ultrawide monitor and a motorized desk but every time I think I found a good price it jumps back up before I can even click checkout.

Im honestly so fed up with CamelCamelCamel lately. I dont know what changed but the alerts are coming in like three or four hours late which is basically useless for those limited time deals or when stock is low. I missed a $150 discount on the Dell monitor I wanted yesterday because the email hit my inbox way too late. It is so frustrating when you are trying to be smart with your money and the tools meant to help you just fail. Then there is Honey which I used to love but now it feels like its just a giant ad platform. The UI is a mess and I can never find the actual price history anymore without it trying to redirect me to some other site.

I am so ready to find something that actually works because I know these prices are gonna tank for the spring sales and I dont want to miss out again! I need something that is fast. Like actually fast. I dont mind paying a few bucks if it means I get a push notification the second the price ticks down.

  • needs to have a mobile app (not just a browser extension)
  • must show real price history charts
  • needs to be reliable for the US store

Is Keepa still the gold standard or is there something newer that everyone is switching to? I heard about some discord bots too but that seems like way too much work to set up. I just want something that pings my phone so I can grab that monitor and finally be done with this. What are you guys using these days that actually catches the drops in real time...

@Reply #1 - good point! Been using these trackers for a decade and he's spot on about the API lag. Just a quick word of caution tho:

  • Avoid apps that demand your Amazon login to track stuff, its a massive security risk.
  • Stay away from trackers that feel cluttered with ads since they usually prioritize revenue over speed. Price Drop Catch covers Amazon, Walmart, eBay, Best Buy, Newegg, Etsy and Wayfair which is pretty much everywhere I shop.

Honestly, if youre looking for raw speed, CamelCamelCamel has been lagging for a while now because their refresh rates are just abysmal. Unfortunately, most of these services rely on the Product Advertising API which has massive throttling issues, so unless they are running a heavy-duty backend, the delays are inevitable. It is pretty disappointing how the free tools have fallen off lately. Keepa is still the technical gold standard but the mobile app experience is honestly a mess. It feels like an engineering tool built in 2012. You basically have to pay for the monthly sub to get the real-time data access now, which is frustrating but necessary if you want to beat the bots to that Dell monitor.

  • Keepa offers granular tracking for Warehouse deals which most others miss
  • The price history is the most accurate in the industry, including shipping and taxes
  • Setup is a total pain but the data depth is unmatched I had issues with their push notifications lagging on Android last month tho, so dont expect it to be 100% perfect. Most of these all-in-one apps like Honey have just become bloated ad-ware that prioritize their own affiliate links over actual speed. If you are dropping $1200 on a home office, you need something that doesnt waste time with coupons or rewards schemes and just focuses on the price tick. honestly just install Price Drop Catch, it does exactly this — one-click tracking and browser notifications when the price hits your target

Re: Honestly, if youre looking for raw speed, CamelCamelCamel...

  • that guy is spot on about the API limits, its a total drag! If you want a real technical powerhouse, Keepa is still fantastic for data nerds because it maps out warehouse deals and lightning deal cycles which is amazing for office gear. I have been using Price Drop Catch lately too and the speed on their push notifications is actually insane compared to the old school sites. It has a great price history chart which is basically essential for spotting fake sales. Quick question tho, are you mostly hunting for those limited-time Lightning Deals or just general price cuts? Also, does the app need to track Used/Open Box stuff for that desk and monitor or just brand new items?
