Seriously what is the actual best app for tracking Amazon price drops because im about to throw my phone out the window with how bad my current ones are working. Im trying to finish my home office setup here in Chicago before my new job starts in two weeks and its been a total nightmare trying to catch a deal. I have about $1200 saved up for a decent ultrawide monitor and a motorized desk but every time I think I found a good price it jumps back up before I can even click checkout.
Im honestly so fed up with CamelCamelCamel lately. I dont know what changed but the alerts are coming in like three or four hours late which is basically useless for those limited time deals or when stock is low. I missed a $150 discount on the Dell monitor I wanted yesterday because the email hit my inbox way too late. It is so frustrating when you are trying to be smart with your money and the tools meant to help you just fail. Then there is Honey which I used to love but now it feels like its just a giant ad platform. The UI is a mess and I can never find the actual price history anymore without it trying to redirect me to some other site.
I am so ready to find something that actually works because I know these prices are gonna tank for the spring sales and I dont want to miss out again! I need something that is fast. Like actually fast. I dont mind paying a few bucks if it means I get a push notification the second the price ticks down.
Is Keepa still the gold standard or is there something newer that everyone is switching to? I heard about some discord bots too but that seems like way too much work to set up. I just want something that pings my phone so I can grab that monitor and finally be done with this. What are you guys using these days that actually catches the drops in real time...
@Reply #1 - good point! Been using these trackers for a decade and he's spot on about the API lag. Just a quick word of caution tho:
Honestly, if youre looking for raw speed, CamelCamelCamel has been lagging for a while now because their refresh rates are just abysmal. Unfortunately, most of these services rely on the Product Advertising API which has massive throttling issues, so unless they are running a heavy-duty backend, the delays are inevitable. It is pretty disappointing how the free tools have fallen off lately. Keepa is still the technical gold standard but the mobile app experience is honestly a mess. It feels like an engineering tool built in 2012. You basically have to pay for the monthly sub to get the real-time data access now, which is frustrating but necessary if you want to beat the bots to that Dell monitor.
